Here’s everything that’s included in Fortnite’s Season 5 Battle Pass

Fortnite’s new Season 5 Battle Pass is here, and that means we have a whole host of new cosmetics to check out.

Last season’s Battle Pass was far and away the best one that Epic had released up until that point. While it didn’t have the excitement of the John Wick skin, it had some great emotes, customizable skins, and some nice extras like gliders and axes. Thankfully, Epic is keeping that trend going, because this Battle Pass is even better.

We played the first hour of The Bard’s Tale 4

It begins with a hanging. The dominant Fatherite priesthood has rounded up heretics and pagans and put them to the scaffold. Elves, dwarfs, magicians and bards are all fair game to the fanatics. I must find my way through the town of Skara Brae to join up with my friends from the banned Guild. From there, we will delve into the ruins of the old town.

This is the opening scene of The Bard’s Tale 4: Barrows Deep, setting up a tale of persecution, prejudice, warfare and magic that runs through its 30 hours or so of role-playing adventuring. Early backers and pre-order customers of the game will be playing its first few chapters in the days ahead, many having waited three years or more since it was first announced.

Students at Hogwarts can now put their dueling skills to the test. The first multiplayer event series for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery brings the Duelling Club to the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, matching players up for a chance to show off their magical finesse.

The loser will have to give up one of their tickets, while the winner gets to keep theirs and also gets a special reward.

New battle royale The Culling 2 picked a bad time to launch

The Culling 2 is the latest game to get on the battle royale hype train, but developer Xaviant picked a rather bad time to launch. Fortnite Battle Royale’s fifth season began today, and perhaps you have heard about that; PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds maker PUBG Corp. also just reopened its test server with a new update for its Xbox One version. Either way, there’s tons of battle royale action easily found on any platform.

So that may be why The Culling 2 has just one (1) player at the moment, according to SteamCharts. Admittedly, this is a Thursday morning on the East Coast, not exactly prime time, but the game’s peak over the past 24 hours is 13, and the all-time high was 249 right at its debut on June 10. On launch day, PC Gamer shot this bonkers video of one of its writers winning a game before his parachute even opened.

Pokémon: Let’s Go looks more precious and adorable than we could have hoped

When we played the E3 2018 demo of Pokémon: Let’s Go! — the franchise’s first original Nintendo Switch games — we came away feeling optimistic about the newcomer-friendly pair. Their latest trailer gives us more hope that Let’s Go! is as much for nostalgic fans as it is Pokémon newbies, because Pikachu Version and Eevee Version look like the cutest series reinventions ever.

We get all of this and more in the trailer above: trainers riding around a beautiful, fully 3D version of the Kanto region; bonding with Eevee and Pikachu; and getting rides from your bigger Pokémon best friends. It’s all beautiful and, frankly, a convincing take on what we’d hope for a Pokémon adventure to be on console.

Destiny 2: Forsaken’s prison break will infest the game’s world

Destiny 2 players who’ve spent any time in Faction Rallies over the past year are sick of Lost Sectors — lifeless caves that house minor enemies and chests. But Bungie aims to improve a good-idea-gone-boring from Destiny 2’s vanilla launch with Forsaken. Game Informer reports that dangerous villains from the Prison of Elders will infest Lost Sectors in Forsaken, as well as everywhere else.

In Destiny 2: Forsaken, the location-based Flashpoint milestone will be getting a heap of new activities piled onto it. Players will be able to accomplish other activities aside from Public Events to get their weekly engram. But all of the world events — Public Events included — will now be filled with escaped convicts.

Fortnite’s new golf kart is fun, balance be damned

Fortnite’s new golf kart is fun, balance be damned

Fortnite’s shopping cart was an interesting addition, but it wasn’t a powered vehicle. You could coast down hills and protect yourself from falling damage, but there was no engine on the dang thing, just your own two feet and gravity.

The All Terrain Kart, or the ATK, added in season five, has upped the stakes considerably when it comes to Fortnite’s vehicle situation.

Fortnite is an actual golf game now

There was a lot of speculation about what Fortnite’s season 5 would include. It’s fair to say that a pretty accurate golf simulation was not high on that list. And yet, thanks to the introduction of what Epic Games is calling “toys,” we have just that.

Toys are exclusive to those who purchase this season’s Battle Pass. Effectively they are emotes, but instead of yielding a goofy dance, they actually generate physical objects in the world: a basketball, a beach ball and, yes, a golf ball.

5 things to know from Fortnite’s season 5 patch notes

The rifts in Fortnite’s sky that have brought items from the game’s world into our own have spread, and now characters from different times in history or ready to do battle. Season five is here, and with it come a variety of changes that invite exploration and even more conspiracy theories about what exactly is going on in the game.

“Viking ships, desert outposts, and ancient statues have appeared across the island,” the Fortnite team wrote in the official patch notes for season five. “Hop in an All Terrain Kart (ATK) with your squad and uncover all-new mysteries and locations that await.”
