Animal Crossing Switch is out in 2019 and Nintendo is driving us nuts already

Animal Crossing is officially heading to Nintendo Switch. It’s out in 2019. We’re all freaking out about it, naturally.

But what we’re most losing our cool over is that Nintendo completely trolled us with this reveal. We were first treated to some nice footage of Isabelle, the mayor’s assistant from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. She walked around the office, thinking to herself, “What if I was mayor for a while?”

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next character is Isabelle from Animal Crossing

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s newest character is Isabelle, the mayoral assistant shih tzu from 2013’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf. She was announced during today’s Nintendo Direct.

Isabelle is the ninth all-new character who will join a roster comprising every fighter who has ever appeared in the Smash Bros. series over its 20-year history. That’s more than 70 characters, meaning the number of totally new stars in Ultimate will be smaller than those who debuted in Melee (14), Brawl (18) and Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS (24).

Cities: Skylines is available today on Nintendo Switch

Cities: Skylines, the hit city-building sandbox game from Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive, is out on the Nintendo Switch eShop today.

The game was originally available on Linux, Mac and PC, before releasing to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Like a typical city management game, Cities: Skylines focuses on many different aspects of city-building and urban planning, but is notable for including day-to-day urban occurrences, such as traffic congestion. Though the SimCity series had previously held a monopoly on the genre, Cities: Skylines rocketed to success after the 2013 SimCity game’s failure. As of March 2018, Cities: Skylines had sold over five million copies on PC alone.

Nintendo announced that the company will be releasing special NES controllers for the Nintendo Switch.

These retro controllers are super cool and identical to the originals, but they unfortunately are only compatible with the Nintendo Switch Online’s NES games. That means no, you will not be able to play Breath of the Wild or other games with these.

New Super Mario Bros. U, the side-scrolling platformer first released on the Wii U is getting a new Deluxe version that will bring it to the Nintendo Switch for the first time.

Along with all the features from the original game, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is also getting a few new features of its own, including two new characters. The first new character is Nabbit, who completely changes the game by not taking any damage from enemies. Nintendo is also adding Toadette to the game. When playing as Toadette, grabbing a super crown will turn you into Peachette, who has a double jump, slower falls and even jumps back up into the air if she falls into a pit.

Yoshi’s Crafted World buttons up spring 2019 launch

Yoshi is coming to Nintendo Switch in spring 2019 with Yoshi’s Crafted World. The full title of the long-gestating game — first revealed at E3 2017 — comes to us via a trailer shown during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

Yoshi’s Crafted World is the first platforming adventure to star Mario’s dinosaur bro and sometimes-steed since Yoshi’s Woolly World. It looks very similar to that game, which launched first on Wii U in fall 2015. (Thankfully for those who missed out on the console version, Nintendo ported the lovely, plush Woolly World to 3DS in 2017.)

Cloud saves, which will allow users to store their save files online as well as on their console, are finally on their way to the Nintendo Switch, thanks to Nintendo’s new online service, the company announced during it’s Nintendo Direct on Thursday afternoon.

The new cloud save system will back up players’ save games automatically. If your Nintendo Switch system breaks or stops working for some reason, your saves will still be fine and you can download them when you sign into a new Nintendo Switch.

Katamari Damacy Reroll is a Switch version of the classic

Katamari Damacy is coming to Nintendo Switch. A remaster of the beloved original game, first released on PlayStation 2, was revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct. It’s called Katamari Damacy Reroll, and it’s out this winter.

The game now uses gyro contorls, HD rumble and single Joy-Con controls for cooperative play. Otherwise it’s the same damn good game that it’s always been, and we are excited beyond belief.
