Castlevania Requiem brings Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood to PS4

Konami is bringing two of its beloved Castlevania games, Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood, to PlayStation 4 for the first time in a new package called Castlevania Requiem.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood was the 10th title in the franchise, and was released exclusively in Japan in 1993. American players are more likely to recognize the game from its various ports and re-releases or because Symphony of the Night — one of the video gaming’s all-time greats — was a direct sequel to it.

Telltale pulls The Walking Dead’s final season from sale

The Walking Dead: The Final Season is no longer available to purchase on digital storefronts like Steam, the PlayStation Store and GOG.com. Despite the second episode of a planned quartet launching today, Telltale Games has reportedly asked retailers to keep customers from purchasing the full season pass, in light of its uncertain future.

A note on the GOG page for The Final Season says that Telltale specifically requested that the retailer “pause” sales of the game.

Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Dreaming City has finally started revealing its secrets

After four weeks in Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Dreaming City location, secrets are finally beginning to pour out. Each week following the completion of the Last Wish raid, the city has gotten more and more corrupted — filled with Taken enemies. But this week, players have already discovered some serious secrets around the galaxy.

The Dreaming City now has a secret dungeon located in The Confluence, under the Blind Well. The Shattering Throne dungeon takes players into the Ascendant Realm, and pits them against several different encounters, including bosses. The rewards for completing each step of the quest are powerful drops — meaning they’ll increase the player’s light level significantly.

Mouse and keyboard support coming soon to Xbox One

Microsoft’s Xbox One will finally offer keyboard and mouse support for some games. Phil Spencer, executive vice president of gaming at Microsoft, made the announcement during Tuesday’s episode of Inside Xbox. The first game to test the feature will be Crytek’s Warface in October via the Xbox Insider Program.

While the feature will be available for developers to implement in the near future, it’s not a global decision that Microsoft is making for all of the games on its platform. Spencer stressed that the idea is to open the Xbox One up to different experiences.

Microsoft’s Xbox One will finally offer keyboard and mouse support for some games. Phil Spencer, executive vice president of gaming at Microsoft, made the announcement during Tuesday’s episode of Inside Xbox. The first game to test the feature will be Warframe, the long-running free-to-play MMO, in October via the Xbox Insider Program.

While the feature will be available for developers to implement in the near future, it’s not a global decision that Microsoft is making for all of the games on its platform. Spencer stressed that the idea is to open the Xbox One up to different experiences.

Fortnite Xbox One S bundle features some console exclusives

Fortnite may be a free-to-play game, but that hasn’t stopped console companies from creating bundles that focus on the extremely popular game. The latest of these bundles is Microsoft’s new Xbox One S bundle, which comes with 2,000 V-Bucks and a few exclusive cosmetics, which Microsoft revealed during its Inside Xbox stream Tuesday afternoon.

The V-Bucks total up to about a $20 value overall, but it’s the other cosmetics that represent the real draw for this bundle. The skin, a legendary item called Eon, is going to be an Xbox exclusive, and can only be obtained through this particular bundle as of now. The bundle also comes with a pickaxe that is a recoloring of last season’s Onslaught, as well as a recolored glider based on the Terminus model. Both of these are exclusive to the bundle as well.

Overcooked going free on Xbox Games With Gold in October

Overcooked will be the main Xbox Games With Gold free game during October, Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced Tuesday on Twitter.

Overcooked, the kooky cooperative cooking game from Ghost Town Games, will be free all month long on Xbox One. Victor Vran is the other free Xbox One game for October; it will be available at no cost to Xbox Live Gold subscribers from Oct. 16 through Nov. 15. To be clear, the Games With Gold version appears to be just the $19.99 game itself — not Victor Vran: Overkill Edition, a $39.99 bundle that includes the game and two add-ons.

World of Warcraft community rallies for the creator of a beloved mod

Raiding in World of Warcraft, no matter what level of difficulty you choose, is challenging. Even the Looking for Raid difficulty, which is meant to be conquerable by any player, requires some degree of coordination and effort. Once you get up to Mythic, everyone needs to know the strategy and be ready to execute it. Actively raiding with Blizzard’s default UI is considered to be a hindrance; the base game doesn’t include damage meters or a way to gauge your success, and you rely on in-game voice cues and animations for telegraphed abilities.

Here’s where Deadly Boss Mods enters in. It’s a one-man operation that shows everything you could need: timers, abilities, rotations, warnings and more. The mod provides audio cues and turns opaque encounters into clear problems to be solved. It’s an amazing tool, and the World of Warcraft community recently rallied when it became clear Deadly Boss Mods’ developer was unable to continue working on it.

Telltale Games died because it stopped moving forward

The story of Telltale Games paints a fascinating, depressing picture of a company that found success and seemed to immediately encase itself in amber. The road to its devastating shutdown is what it looks like when a company finds a winning formula, and thinks that winning formula will win forever.

Spoiler warning: It never does.

Telltale hit with class-action lawsuit for breaking labor laws

A former Telltale employee is suing the company in a class-action lawsuit, alleging that it violated labor laws on the books in California and nationwide when it laid off hundreds of employees on Friday in advance of a planned closure of the studio.

The complaint, filed Monday in federal court in San Francisco, is a class-action lawsuit submitted by Vernie Roberts on behalf of himself and his fellow laid-off workers. In the complaint, Roberts says Telltale — which is based in the San Francisco suburb of San Rafael, California — let go of the employees “without cause” and without providing them with “advance written notice as required by the WARN Act.”
