Teamfight Tactics’ new mid-set removes controversial Shadow Items

Shadow Items will disappear in Teamfight Tactics: Reckoning’s mid-set update, Dawn of Heroes. In lieu of the Shadow Items that players have been using for the past few months, Dawn of Heroes will introduce a feature called Radiant Items, Riot announced in a blog post on Friday.

Shadow Items were powerful tools that also came with major drawbacks. By powering up one member, you might weaken others nearby, or something similar. Radiant Items do not have these drawbacks, and only offer powerful boons for players and their units. But unlike Shadow Items, players will only get one Radiant Item each game.

id Software shelves Doom Eternal’s Invasion mode, making Horde mode instead

Doom Eternal’s multiplayer Invasion Mode, which would have let players invade other players’ campaigns as demons, has been shelved, according to an update from id Software executive producer Marty Stratton. Instead, id is focusing its efforts on a new single-player Horde Mode for Doom Eternal and a “refresh” of Battlemode, the 2v1 multiplayer experience that pits two player-controlled demons against the Doomslayer.

Stratton said that remote work as a result of the pandemic slowed development of Invasion Mode. Other factors, including how already released updates for Doom Eternal resonated with players, influenced the decision to put Invasion Mode on the back burner.

The Skyward Sword remaster will feature a variety of quality of life improvements, Nintendo says, including the ability to fast-forward dialogue, skip cutscenes, and reduce the amount of “help” offered by Fi, the spirit who lives in Link’s sword.

As shown in the above trailer, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will offer “optional help” from Fi. At certain moments, Link’s sword will glow and Fi will ask if you need help, offering advice, analysis, a reminder of your objective, and more.
