Destiny 2: Black Armory to bring back fan-favorite gun, the Last Word

The final trailer for Black Armory — the first of the Destiny 2: Annual Pass’ three expansion offerings — hit today ahead of the expansion’s Dec. 4 release date. The trailer shows off a variety of weapons that players will be able to collect during the expansion, including five new exotic guns.

While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen most of these weapons, the final clip of the trailer finally confirms the return of Destiny’s Last Word hand cannon. In the video revealing Black Armory last week, Bungie teased Last Word’s return, but it wasn’t until this final trailer that we got to see it in action. The trailer also confirmed that the Last Word will be obtained from an exotic quest called The Draw, which won’t be available until Jan. 29 of next year.

Newest Heroes of the Storm event is an action figure toy story

Heroes of the Storm is all about pitting Blizzard’s iconic characters against each other in a variety of arenas, which is great, but what if instead of heroes you were just playing with some sweet action figures? This is the question that Blizzard poses with its latest event, which is set to run from Dec. 11 through to Jan. 7. After assuming the form of Mexican wrestlers, Azeroth heroes, and cursed goth knights, we’re now seeing heroes adopt the role of sweet, fully posable action figures and stuffed animals.

World of Warcraft’s Stitches turns from a mighty undead aberration into Cuddle Bear Stitches, and honestly, this is the first skin that makes me want to play the tank. StarCraft’s primal Zerg pack leader Dehaka becomes Dehakasaurus Rex,a plastic dino from the primal kingdom, and Cosmic Force Valeera is a fun nod to ’80s cartoon action figures. Players can also unlock some cosmic lion mounts, or if they have extreme taste and sophistication, a legendary stuffed unicorn mount.

Fortnite Season 7’s first teaser is here

It seems like only a few months ago that Epic Games brought pets into our lives with the launch of Fortnite season six, but it’s already time to say goodbye to the current season. With the Halloween season coming to a close season seven is on the way to officially welcome winter to Fortnite, at least based on Epic’s latest Twitter tease.

The image in the teaser certainly appears to be winter-themed, with a shadowy figure made up of stars in the night sky and two glowing white eyes. The figure is silhouetted in frost-blue ice and a white field that’s flecked with gray at the edges. Other than the general cold theme, we aren’t getting much from this teaser image, but there might be a few things we can pull out.

The PlayStation Classic’s emulation is even worse than we thought

The PlayStation Classic’s emulation is even worse than we thought

What went wrong with the PlayStation Classic?

The answer is much more than the subjective arguments about which games should be included with the hardware. The games that are present look muddy, and the imprecise emulation can lead to glitches that didn’t exist in the original releases. A video from Digital Foundry, which you can watch above, shows some of these issues, and the problems go much deeper than issues with Final Fantasy 7’s music.

Battlefield 5’s first Tides of War update lands Dec. 4

Battlefield 5 got off to a rocky start, with critics and fans alike commenting that its single-player campaign felt incomplete and its multiplayer gameplay felt unbalanced. While core changes are on the way, the team at EA DICE is charging ahead with the first free batch of new content. Called Overture, this first package in the Tides of War series arrives tomorrow, Dec. 4. It will include a new multiplayer map, expanded cosmetic options, and a new single-player mission.

For the community of active players, the biggest news in Overture is the addition of Panzerstorm, a new armor-centric multiplayer map. Based on the historical Battle of Hannut, which took place in Belgium in early 1940, it will allow up to 17 tanks on the map at one time.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s post-launch plans include Pikachu, Eevee spirits

The Pokémon Company revealed that Pikachu and Eevee are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — that is, spirits based on the characters and their Let’s Go! designs. Collectible power-ups inspired by the mascots will begin showing up in the game’s Spirit Board rotation starting next week.

The Japanese Pokémon Twitter account confirmed that the Pikachu and Eevee spirits will arrive Dec. 14, but they won’t be accessible to all players that day. Instead, only those with save data from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! will receive the spirit analogous to their saves. They’ll get one automatically, as opposed to everyone else, who will have to cross their fingers for Pikachu and Eevee while playing the Spirit Board lottery.

Valve now rewards successful games with a larger cut of Steam revenue

Valve used to take a 30-percent cut of all the revenue that games brought in through Steam, the company’s popular storefront for PC games and software. This didn’t always sit well with developers, who sometimes argued that Valve wasn’t doing enough to earn that large of a cut.

Valve has now announced that it will take a smaller percent of a game’s revenue once it hits certain sales milestones.

Eve Online maker mothballs its ‘Project Nova’ first-person shooter

“Project Nova,” a first-person shooter in the Eve Online universe, is going back to the drawing board, CCP told its community in a blog post on Friday. That means the closed alpha planned for this game is not happening.

“Over the course of Project Nova’s development, we conducted a number of player research sessions with external partners, tirelessly playtested the game internally and brought community stalwarts in to help us evaluate the project,” the publisher wrote. “Now, after taking all this research and feedback into account, we see that the gameplay experience in its current form does not live up to our original vision and would not achieve our ambitious goals for this project.”
