Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 gets Zombies-less $29.99 PC release

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was always more of a collection of games than a single release, and Activision has finally decided to offer a less-expensive option for players who don’t need to have it all. The “Battle Edition” of Black Ops 4 is now available through Battle.net, and it comes with the game’s traditional competitive multiplayer mode and Blackout, Call of Duty’s battle royale mode.

The bundle will be available for $29.99 until Jan. 6, 2019, when the price goes up to $39.99. For now, however, you’re basically paying half-price for a version of Black Ops 4 that includes everything except the Zombies mode.

Street Fighter 5 is getting in-game ads

Capcom will introduce ads into Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition as part of an update on Dec. 11. Those ads will appear during loading screens, on stages and on costumes, though Capcom says they will be optional: Players will be able to turn them off.

Street Fighter 5’s sponsored content will “be displayed in several locations in-game to remind you about costumes, bundles, and the Capcom Pro Tour,” the company said on the Capcom Unity blog. If players opt to keep ads enabled during their game, they can earn additional Fight Money — Street Fighter 5’s in-game currency — in ranked and casual matches.

Epic Games sued for swiping ‘Milly Rock’ dance for Fortnite

One of the most recognizable elements of Fortnite are the in-game emotes. These dances are often instantly recognizable as popular real-life dances, though some of the emotes achieve a different sort of notoriety as “Fortnite dances” — ignoring the creators who originally popularized them. Many have previously questioned Epic’s use of the real-life dances as inspiration, and rapper Terrence Ferguson, better known by his stage name 2 Milly, is doing something about it. He’s suing the company for copyright infringement, accusing Epic of appropriating his “Milly Rock” dance.

According to Ferguson’s suit, the ironically named Swipe It emote from the game — which was contained in Fortnite’s season 5 Battle Pass — is identical to his signature “Milly Rock” dance, and Epic sold it without his consent or credit.

Rockstar updates Red Dead Online’s economy, gives beta players free gold

Rockstar Games is making changes to Red Dead Online’s contentious economy starting Thursday, adjusting prices of in-game items and increasing payouts of cash and gold. The better news for players who have tried out Red Dead Redemption 2’s online beta is that Rockstar is giving them a nice little infusion of cash for free.

The best news is that if you bought something in Red Dead Online already, and Rockstar has dropped the price of that item, you’ll get some in-game currency refunded to you.

NBA’s Dallas Mavericks get Overwatch-style hype vid

After years of asking, the person who does in-game media for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks finally got their wish: to do a crowd hype video themed like Overwatch highlights.

Redditor thankstowelie posted this to the game’s subreddit yesterday to rave reviews. This introduced the team during their 111-102 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. And why not? Fellow arena tenants the Dallas Stars are known to use Punch-Out!! and Guile’s themes to score hockey fights, after all.

Fortnite season 7 Battle Pass revealed

Fortnite’s newest season has arrived and that means an all-new Battle Pass full of new skins, gliders and pets.

This time around, the Battle Pass has a winter theme, and that means characters are bundled up in their new skins with parkas and winter coats — except for Santa who only has a tactical vest on. Adding to last season’s addition of pets, this season is also bringing with it a new hamster friend and an ice-wolf puppy with glowing eyes.
