Destiny 2’s Friendgame community tool tracks your favorite Guardians

Valentine’s Day is coming up, even in the world of Destiny. And as Guardians prepare to settle up and murder each other with their best friend, a new web tool has emerged to show players who that best friend is — down to the hour. And it comes at the perfect time, as Guardians will need to select a friend to battle with during the Crimson Days in-game holiday.

Friendgame is a new tool from Josh Hunt, the maker of the Destiny Sets web tool. By punching in your handle, you can view the number of activities you’ve experienced with each of your Destiny friends. If you’d rather break it down by hours instead, you can do that as well.

H1Z1’s third season brings its largest update to PS4

Two new game modes are coming to H1Z1 Battle Royale, in what Daybreak Games calls the game’s largest update so far on PlayStation 4. The update, like the game itself, is free and rolls out Feb. 21.

A free-for-all deathmatch highlights the new gameplay options. It involves 50 players fighting within a tight combat zone, with instant respawn abilities and a “rotating arsenal of weaponry” at their disposal. The goal is reaching 25 kills before a timer expires.

Fallout 76 player gets inside, shares pictures from, mysterious sealed Vault 63

A Fallut 76 player accidentally clipped into and was stuck inside the supposedly inaccessible Vault 63 — a sealed area players believe may be the scene of some upcoming story extension or DLC. After radioing for help from Bethesda Game Studios itself, they managed to get free on their own, but still have the lingering worry of a ban or another sanction.

Redditor McStaken said they got stuck there doing a Rad-Rat horde event. While inside, they snapped and shared these nine pictures (via imgur) of Vault 63’s interior.

Buy Guitar Hero Live? You might get a refund.

Activision is offering “potential refunds” to some buyers of Guitar Hero Live, whose catalog of streaming songs to play was cut to about 10 percent of its size at the end of 2018 (so, nine times worse than decimated).

The company isn’t giving any reasons why in a tersely worded claims form page, but it’s rather obvious that Activision’s decision to obliterate a library that counted almost 500 songs at its peak, and a resulting lawsuit — dismissed less than two weeks ago — is the culprit. The refunds are only good for those who:

Catherine: Full Body leak reveals a new character’s secret

Although Atlus won’t release its pseudo-remake of Catherine until next week in Japan, leaked footage from the game has already given away one of the game’s biggest new surprises. Marketing for Catherine: Full Body heavily suggested that new character Rin’s identity is an important plot point, but not in the way that some critics initially interpreted.

[Ed. note: We’re getting into major spoilers for Catherine: Full Body below, so be forewarned.]

Bungie is finally fixing the ‘Titan skating’ exploit in Destiny 2

Destiny 2’s multiplayer has to balance three different classes each with their own abilities and Super attacks. But since Destiny 2 launched on PC, Titan players have been using an exploit known as “Titan skating” to gain an unfair advantage. It allows Titans to go unnaturally fast, but Bungie is finally addressing it in an update next month.

The Titan’s jump ability is called Lift, and uses momentum to propel Guardians up and forward. If done in a certain way, Titan characters can move far faster than anyone else in the game. While it was possible on consoles in Destiny, it takes finesse to time jumps and gain the full skating effect. But on the PC version of Destiny 2, players are able to create a macro — often by mapping jump to the mouse wheel — which allows them to skate faster and more efficiently than ever.

Axiom Verge’s free Epic Game Store version had a funny Steam bug

Epic Games is giving away cyberpunk Metroidvania Axiom Verge on its store right now, but players quickly found that there’s a serious error with the free game. It turns out that Axiom Verge had a bad crashing glitch, all because the developer took out all mentions of “Steam” from the game’s code.

“Downloaded Axiom Verge from Epic Store (it’s free and I hear it’s good),” tweeted an Epic Games Store user named Scott LaGrasta. “Game crashes 100% entering an area. I poke around & find the log files. Turns out it’s missing a sound effect: ‘steam.’”

New Switch ‘bundle’ includes $35 Nintendo eShop gift card

A new Nintendo Switch bundle will include a $35 eShop gift card, the company announced this week. The bundle will be available starting Feb. 15 at participating retailers.

$35 won’t cover the full cost of a first-party Nintendo Switch game, but it’ll take a good chunk off the price tag. Or you could pick up a few Switch indies (“Nindies,” in Nintendo’s parlance) like Hollow Knight, Into the Breach, and my favorite game of last year, Celeste.

You can steal the Declaration of Independence in The Division 2

The Division 2 private beta is in full swing, throwing players into a mid-apocalyptic world of Washington D.C. Early on, the beta asks players to reach the lawn of the White House and take it over as the new Base of Operations for Division agents, where players can craft weapons and get sent on missions — just so we all know what we’re dealing with here.

A few hours into the beta’s content, you come across a side quest inside D.C.’s National Archives building. Here, the Division agents are sent on a deeply important mission to ... steal the Declaration of Independence.
