Forza Motorsport 7 reaches ‘end of life,’ won’t be sold after Sept. 15

Forza Motorsport 7 is a relatively young game, having only been released in 2017. Today, Microsoft announced that the game is about to reach “End of Life” status, which means it’ll be unavailable to purchase on the Microsoft Store or through Xbox Game Pass after Sept. 15. Players who already own the game will be able to download and play the game as normal, including multiplayer and other online services. Microsoft will also continue to run Rivals esports events with partners.

Players who own DLC for the game but access the main game through Xbox Game Pass will not be locked out of the game either. Microsoft explains how these cases will be handled. The post reads, in part:

Fortnite chops down fan-favorite NPC Bushranger

Bushranger, the fan-favorite Fortnite NPC (and inspiration for the skin in the locker o’ goodies Brie Larson curated this spring) appears to be dead. At least, that’s the only logical assumption I can form when a visit to the area where he used to roam now shows a freshly dug grave with some flowers sprouting up from the soil.

In case you didn’t get the point, the game “plays peaceful music when you are nearby.” Fans are holding out hope that this is actually a baby’s grave (yes, really).

Apex Legends’ new trailer shows off Seer’s intel-gathering abilities

We’ve known about Apex Legends’ newest champion for more than a week, but Respawn has only just now unveiled his exact ability kit. The reveal came as part of the character’s new introduction trailer, which continues the trend of making Seer look fantastic in all his previews.

Just as Respawn had previously announced, Seer is all about gathering information for his team and using his micro-drones to track enemies. His Passive ability allows him to find enemies by their heartbeats, while his Tactical ability will seek out nearby enemies and even interrupt them if they’re doing something important. Finally, his Ultimate ability will place a dome over an entire area that reveals anyone running or shooting inside it.

PS5 beta software lets users upgrade their internal SSD storage

Sony announced ages ago that the PS5 would contain an SSD expansion bay, but also said that the feature wouldn’t be available at launch. Now, more than eight months after the console debuted, storage expansion is finally coming, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Thursday.

A beta version of the PS5’s next system software update, version 2.0, is now rolling out to select PlayStation users who have previously opted into Sony’s beta test program in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany, and France. Beta users can test M.2 SSD storage expansion on PS5, which will bolster the console’s built-in internal storage of 825 GB (667.2 GB of which is accessible to users). On Thursday, Sony Interactive Entertainment published M.2 SSD storage specifications and installation instructions on the PlayStation website.

Fortnite is getting a Suicide Squad-themed update that will include Bloodsport

Bloodsport is coming to Fortnite. The Suicide Squad sharpshooter’s appearance in the game was announced on Wednesday by Bloodsport himself, actor Idris Elba. The Suicide Squad director James Gunn originally tweeted a video about the crossover.

In the video, we get a brief glimpse of Bloodsport wreaking havoc on the Fortnite island, taking ziplines, and firing off rocket launchers — which certainly seems to fit his vibe from the trailers. According to Elba, Bloodsport is coming to the island soon; the video ends with a tease saying that we’ll get more information about The Suicide Squad’s tie-in with Fortnite sometime on Thursday.

Here’s how to swap out the tiny Final Fantasy font in the remasters

Fans don’t like the teeny, tiny font in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, but that’s not stopping them from fixing it.

On Wednesday Square Enix released the Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy 2, and Final Fantasy 3 on Android, iOS, and Windows PC. The games include updates like a refreshed look and a newly remastered soundtrack. While many of the changes brought a much-needed face-lift to an old franchise, not all of them were welcome. Namely, people took issue with the font, and now they’re finding crafty ways to fix it.

Blizzard says it fired ex-World of Warcraft lead named in harassment lawsuit for ‘misconduct’

Blizzard Entertainment terminated former World of Warcraft creative director Alex Afrasiabi, a developer named in a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard who was alleged to have “engage[d] in blatant sexual harassment with little to no repercussions,” in 2020 after an internal investigation, according to a statement the studio gave to Kotaku.

News of Afrasiabi’s firing in the summer of 2020 is part of a larger Kotaku report on the so-called Cosby Suite at BlizzCon mentioned in the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing’s lawsuit against Activision Blizzard. According to court documents, “Afrasiabi was so known to engage in harassment of females that his suite was nicknamed the ‘Crosby Suite’ [sic] after alleged rapist Bill Crosby [sic].”

James Bond’s Aston Martin comes to Rocket League

The 1963 Aston Martin DB5 — the most recognizable of all the James Bond cars — crosses over to Rocket League beginning July 29.

Thanks to a deal with MGM (and, one assumes, the carmaker, too), players can get the star of 1964’s Goldfinger for 1,100 Credits from the Item Store on Thursday. Psyonix said in a news release that more of James Bond’s vehicle fleet will be made available later this year. This is all presumably a tie-in with No Time to Die, the latest Bond flick, which was originally due to premiere in 2020 but was delayed repeatedly by the COVID-19 pandemic. The film, Daniel Craig’s last as Bond, will be released Sept. 30.
