Assassin’s Creed Valhalla game director leading Dead Space remake

Eric Baptizat, game director on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and many other Ubisoft projects, is the current game director for EA Motive’s recently announced Dead Space remake. Baptizat left Ubisoft after 16 years in 2020 and joined EA to work on an unannounced title. He’s since confirmed via his LinkedIn page that he’s helming the new Dead Space title, as reported by VideoGamesChronicle.

While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was Baptizat’s first gig as game director, he served as lead game designer on several other games, namely Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.

The first James Bond board game of this generation turns players into supervillains

James Bond has largely been absent from the modern board game revolution, but that’s about to change with SPECTRE: The Board Game from Modiphius Entertainment. The catch is you won’t be playing 007 or any other MI6 agent. Instead, you will choose between classic Bond villains such as Ernst Stavro Blofeld (You Only Live Twice), Rosa Klebb (From Russia, with Love), and Raoul Silva (Skyfall).

Modiphius Entertainment has established itself as a strong design studio in the tabletop industry. It has released hit titles such as the miniatures game Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and the role-playing game Star Trek Adventures. It also has Dune and Homeworld RPGs on the way.

Pokémon Unite feels a little too ‘pay to win’ for some players

Pokémon Unite, The Pokémon Company’s popular free-to-play MOBA on Nintendo Switch, has a system that many players are criticizing as “pay to win” and unfair for the competitive integrity of the newly released game.

Early on, players can earn Aeos Coins (capped at 2,100 per week) and Tickets. Either of these currencies can be used to purchase held items in the Aeos Emporium. Held items are similar to items in traditional Pokémon games and can be equipped to a single Pokémon. In Pokémon Unite, they increase stats like health, defense, movement speed, and attack. Each held item can be upgraded to increase those benefits up to 30 times. To do so, you need to invest in yet another currency: Item Enhancers.

Cyberpunk cat adventure Stray will let you do highly accurate cat stuff

A new trailer for Stray, the futuristic cyberpunk adventure game in which you’ll control a cat, offers our best look yet at developer BlueTwelve Studio’s game. The cat-centric gameplay looks impressively authentic; as the titular stray cat, you’ll knock things over to solve puzzles and create new pathways, leap through a strange city with feline grace, and claw up furniture because you despise humans’ material investments.

Most of what you’ll do in Stray draws upon the real-world abilities of a cat. But you also have a helpful companion, a drone named B-12, who offers other gifts. B-12 will helpfully interact with objects in the world and communicate with the city’s robotic inhabitants. The cat will also have to avoid danger from rat-like creatures, but with the help of B-12, it appears the cat can turn the tables and kill them en masse with a purple light.

This mod lets you play Wind Waker as the cutest widdle Solid Snake

Watch out Ganon! You have a new hero sneaking up your way! Thanks to a mod created by AaronTheSnob, you can now play The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker as Solid Snake, the protagonist of the Metal Gear series.

The “Snake” in the mod is done in the style of Wind Waker, so he has big eyes and cute, stubby legs. (The little sausage legs just dangle in the wind as he parachutes down.) He wears his hair up with his recognizable headband and dons the dual-toned tactical espionage suit Snake is known for.
