H&M’s Pokémon collaboration expands with new Detective Pikachu styles

To know Detective Pikachu is to love Detective Pikachu. The furry, caffeine-addicted electric mouse voiced by Ryan Reynolds is capturing hearts across the world in Pokémon Detective Pikachu, the first live action Pokémon movie.

Just in time for the movie’s release, fast fashion retailer H&M launched a new collection of Pokémon apparel, expanding its line of Pokémon-themed merch. Only a few of the new designs feature Detective Pikachu himself, but all of them look like something someone would wear to, say, a parade celebrating Pokémon or an underground Pokémon battle.

Why Detective Pikachu shies away from Pokémon battles

Veteran Pokémon fans might be taken aback by one of Detective Pikachu’s earliest scenes, in which protagonist Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) tries to capture a Cubone. Goodman doesn’t try damaging or battling the Pokémon, as one would in a game. He just throws a Pokeball at it.

As the characters explain it, in this region, capturing Pokémon is all about whether or not you establish a connection with them. Pokémon are able to feel what humans are saying, even if they can’t understand you.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is bringing PlayStation classic MediEvil back as a PlayStation 4 game this fall. The MediEvil remake will be released on Oct. 25, Sony announced on Thursday during its State of Play livestream.

While the MediEvil remake doesn’t appear to be going as far as some other PlayStation-era remakes, it looks very nice. A new trailer for the game, highlighting the story of protagonist Sir Daniel Fortesque, shows off the “remade from the grave up” graphics, which will be presented in 4K resolution.

Predator: Hunting Grounds comes to PS4 in 2020

The lore of 1987 action classic Predator returns to video games with Predator: Hunting Grounds, an asymmetric, co-operative/competitive multiplayer game from IllFonic, the studio that made a Friday the 13th video game along the same lines.

The very brief teaser trailer above does not show gameplay, but it does suggest that whoever is in charge of the Predator will have access to its super skills and technology, such as active camo and that menacing, guttural purr.

Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence begins on June 4

Players have been waiting to hear what Bungie has planned for them in Destiny 2: Season of Opulence for months. In its weekly blog, Bungie announced that Season of Opulence will go live early next month, on June 4.

While the studio revealed the date, many of the actual details of the season are still under wraps. We do know, however, that Season of Opulence’s new raid (called Crown of Sorrow) will be playable on the same day the season launches. This is a major break from previous raids, which usually release several days after a big content launch to give players time to experience what’s new and work their way up.

The new Ghost Recon leans into survival and a grim Black Mirror future

Based on the setting of the next Ghost Recon alone, Ubisoft has learned some important lessons from the previous game in the franchise, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. Set on the fictional archipelago Auroa, the new game, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, sidesteps the critical and diplomatic concerns — namely of a U.S. Army Special Forces group infiltrating a foreign land portrayed as a cartel-controlled narco-state — of Wildlands’ Bolivia.

The island setting of Ghost Recon Breakpoint is instead home to Silicon Valley settlers. A drone tech company known as Skell Technology has set up its headquarters there. But Auroa and Skell have been invaded, and the tech workers there are being held hostage by a group of ex-Ghosts, rogue operatives named the Wolves. Led by Cole D. Walker (Jon Bernthal, used to ), the Wolves have cut off all communication to the outside world and assumed control of Skell’s drone fleet. They plan on doing bad things.
