Battlefield 5’s next chapter begins in June with a big vehicle map

We know that Electronic Arts will be touting Battlefield 5 at EA Play 2019 this weekend, and the next chapter of the game’s post-release DLC, “Defying the Odds” will begin June 27 and deliver new maps for the game’s multiplayer modes over the next two months.

The content starts with the vehicle-friendly Al Sundan map on June 27, which offers long-distance warfare in a desert setting. It’s back to Greece in June for Marita, supporting more general/traditional multiplayer combat, before we’re given two maps in August that EA DICE says will promise close quarters fighting: the Lofoten Islands and Provence.

Meet the newest Pokémon of Pokémon Sword and Shield

Brand-new Pokémon are coming to the franchise with Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, the eighth-generation of Game Freak and The Pokémon Company’s series for Nintendo Switch. While we already knew about the games’ trio of new starters — Grookey, Sobble, and Scorbunny — a new Pokémon Direct presentation gave fans a look at seven new Pokémon, including two new legendaries.

Let’s take a look at who’s new, and what they can do, starting with ...

The most expensive piece of Star Wars Land merch costs more than a year of college

Shopping is the center of the Galaxy’s Edge experience. Disneyland’s new Star Wars-themed land will only have one ride, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, until Rise of the Resistance opens later this year. The expansion doesn’t have a traditional indoor stage show, and while we enjoyed an interwoven smartphone game, it’s a supplement, not a meal. That leaves a lot of time to buy Star Wars toys, lightsabers, costumes, and even a $25,000 droid.

Obviously, the life-size R2-D2 unit looks more realistic than the smaller, plastic custom droids available in the same shopping area. It would fit comfortably in a Star Wars fan collection, no doubt.

Zacian and Zamazenta are Pokémon Sword and Shield’s featured legendary Pokémon

The Nintendo Direct that focused on the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield games revealed the legendary Pokémon that will be gracing the games’ covers.

Zacian will be the featured legendary Pokémon appearing in Sword, with Zamazenta appearing in Shield. They both carry the motif of their respective game, having ... well, swords and shields. Zacian carries a sword in its mouth and Zamazenta’s entire front part of its body has shield-like armor. As of this writing, there’s no word on their types.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will have huge Dynamax monsters

This morning’s Nintendo Direct revealed an enormous new detail for the upcoming Pokémon Switch games: monsters can now be giant through the power of Dynamax. To capture these, Pokémon Sword and Shield even has large Pokeballs that players must use to tame the hulking beasts.

In many ways, Dynamax kind of looks like powering up monsters like Z-Moves. You can trigger Dynamax for three turns, and during that time, creatures will be able to hit enemies harder, with powered up versions of their moves.

In many ways, Dynamax kind of looks like powering up monsters like Z-Moves — there’s even a special band that you’ll need to equip to do it. You can trigger Dynamax for three turns, and during that time, creatures will be able to hit enemies harder, with powered up versions of their moves.

Olimar and Pichu are no longer Smash Ultimate’s most feared fighters

In addition to adding a virtual reality mode, Nintendo’s latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate patch also updated the platform fighter with a variety of gameplay changes. These changes adjust a large portion of the cast for competitive purposes, most notably nerfing a couple of powerhouse characters in order to bring them more in line with the rest of the roster.

Since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched last December, community opinion on the strongest character in the game has shifted wildly. Where early on players were mostly scared of facing Splatoon’s Inkling due to the squid kid’s ability to plant opponents in the ground with the Splat Roller, this thinking evolved to include characters like Pokémon’s Pikachu and Pichu, Pikmin’s Captain Olimar, and resident Super Mario royalty Peach and Daisy, among others. Truth be told, it’s still a little early to definitively label any fighters overpowered, but the aforementioned were thought to be the pinnacle of competition before the latest update.

Xbox deodorant and body wash coming this summer

Microsoft is planning for its upcoming E3 presentation, but there’s one surprise product that we know will be hitting store shelves this summer. It’s not a game or a console, but instead a fragrance line called Lynx Xbox. Microsoft has partnered with Lynx to create a scent that captures the essence of Xbox, and can be purchased in body spray, deodorant, and shower gel forms, Gamespot reports.

What does Xbox smell like? The official description says that “Lynx Xbox is a fresh scent of pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood. Containing a range of natural essential oils, the Xbox Lynx range comes with a sleek new look and features a body spray, deodorant, and shower gel.”
