And now, for the best video game trailer of the year (so far)

My Friend Pedro is out Thursday for Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. You can’t play the side-scrolling action game yet, but you can watch this fantastic launch trailer that celebrates the occasion. It’s the best trailer for a video game I’ve seen all year.

Yes, there’s no gameplay. But the action in the trailer seems to be heavily based on things you can actually do in the game, like launching a frying pan into the air and shooting it to kill your enemies.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get access to four more games before the end of June, Microsoft announced on Wednesday. This will be the first update to Game Pass to include games for Microsoft’s newly announced Xbox Game Pass for PC. While games in Game Pass are now separated by whether they’re available on PC or console, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will grant access to all of the games.

On June 20, subscribers to Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One will be able to play the survival horror game Resident Evil: Revelations as well as the decidedly-less -terrifying Rare Replay. Rare Replay contains 30 games from the legendary developer’s past including Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and Viva Piñata.

The Division 2’s new Gunner specialization is available now

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2’s latest update is here. Title Update 4 is the fourth major update since Massive Entertainment launched the game earlier this year and the first to add a new specialization, The Division 2’s endgame-only classes.

The new Gunner specialization turns players into a walking tank with a big gun. The signature weapon is a minigun, and players gain increased armor when it’s drawn. The new specialization also comes with a trait called Banshee, which confuses enemy targets in cover. The Gunner’s special grenade is Riot Foam, which stuns enemies caught in the explosion.

Respawn details Apex Legends’ new gun, season 2 weapon improvements

We’ve known Apex Legends is getting a new light machine gun (LMG) in season 2 since Respawn announced it back at EA Play, but we didn’t have many details. The developer released a season 2 weapon preview on Tuesday that shows off what we can expect from the new L-STAR LMG, as well as a few other changes to look forward to in the new season.

The L-STAR is going to be pretty rare, Respawn says, and will only spawn in supply drops. It’s a slow-firing, heavy-impact LMG that’s going to do a lot of damage.

World of Warcraft’s next patch, Rise of Azshara, launches June 25

Blizzard will release World of Warcraft’s next major update, Patch 8.2, on Tuesday, June 25. Titled Rise of Azshara, it’s a massive release by World of Warcraft standards — it contains two new zones, a new raid, a massive dungeon, an overhaul of the Azerite system, and more.

Rise of Azshara will introduce Queen Azshara, one of the largest remaining villains of World of Warcraft. We’ve seen glimpses of her in the past, and the Naga have been a threat since World of Warcraft’s launch. We’re storming her kingdom, attacking her, and discovering the details of her alliance with the Old God N’Zoth. Mechagon is also a massive gnome-themed zone, with tons of random challenges and sandbox elements for players to explore and conquer.

Bloodstained’s launch trailer shows off playable Shovel Knight, teases Child of Light

Game designer Koji Igarashi’s spiritual successor to his style of Castlevania games, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, is now available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version due out on June 25. A launch trailer for the game hints at what’s to come, including a playable cameo from Shovel Knight and a tease that content based on Ubisoft’s Child of Light is coming to the game.

The trailer might spoil an interesting looking boss fight or two, but it serves to show off the breadth of content coming to the crowdfunded game. Players will have a variety of modes, character customization items, and bonus content at their disposal in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and Igarashi promises even more.

Overwatch launches new in-game challenge with a Baptiste skin

A new challenge goes live in Overwatch today, and players who participate can earn in-game rewards — most notably, a new skin for Baptiste, the latest hero to join the game. The skin was teased in a short story yesterday, where Baptiste reunites with some old Talon teammates and has to make some hard decisions about his future.

As with the short story Bastet in January, starring Ana and Soldier: 76, players can log in and complete challenges to earn a set of Baptiste-themed cosmetics.
