Apex Legends season 2 battle pass: release date, price, and unlocks

Apex Legends season 2 is live, which means a new battle pass is here with a plenty of cosmetics to collect. The season 2 battle pass will include dozens of cosmetics for Apex heroes and guns, and is available for purchase in-game now for 950 Apex Coins (about $9.50).

Last season’s battle pass ran into criticism over the quality of unlocks and the emphasis that the pass put on smaller rewards like banner images and stat trackers for individual characters. Respawn has addressed this previously by saying that this pass would contain more weapon and character skins, as well as higher-rarity loot overall. And it certainly does. The new battle pass contains four legendary character skins, and new high-quality weapon skins for guns like the Spitfire and the R-301.

Mordhau’s plans for women and people of color are confusing everyone

The team behind massive medieval combat hit Mordhau appear to be at odds internally over the inclusion of women and non-white player avatars in their fictional medieval combat game. Reached for comment, representatives tell Polygon that an official public statement is forthcoming.

The situation began yesterday when PC Gamer published an article based off an interview with the team. Asked about the inclusion of women and people of color in future versions of the game, the team said it wanted to leave that decision up to players. Their solution: a toggle that would allow those uncomfortable with the sight of a woman or a black person in their game world the ability to turn them into white men instead.

Cuphead developer delays Delicious Last Course DLC to 2020

Cuphead’s final episode is going to need more time in the oven. Developer Studio MDHR announced today that Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course has been delayed to 2020. The add-on was originally planned for release sometime this year.

Studio MDHR said it wants to continue to polish Cuphead’s DLC and to avoid an unhealthy development cycle, an increasingly common refrain.

Too many people took Etika’s mental health struggles as a joke

The first thing I saw about Etika last week wasn’t that he had gone missing. It was a conspiracy theory that he had coordinated a stunt for attention, shared by a Twitter account with millions of followers. I’m not sure if the disinformation campaign worked, or if it was the reporter in me, but I watched events unfold with some skepticism, halfway hoping he’d show up at the end, alive and well. But no: Desmond “Etika” Amofah was found dead late last month at the age of 29.

It dawns on me now that I reacted that way because over the last year, Etika had gained a reputation on YouTube. It had become clear for some time that the YouTuber was struggling. In April, he had a full-fledged mental breakdown in front of the internet. That same month, he appeared on YouTube tabloids “losing his mind for, like, the third time.” Manic rants where Etika claimed to be God became attractions, with interviewers implying that he was just doing it for audiences.
