Monkey interrupts Sea of Thieves stream with a huge barf

Rare’s Sea of Thieves is getting pets — monkeys and parrots — in an update slated for this month’s Smuggler’s Fortune update. The developer held a Sea of Thieves preview stream on YouTube to showcase the update on Monday, and they brought on an actual squirrel monkey called Antonio.

And things got ... gross.

The second batch of Ultra Bonuses are now live in Pokémon Go

The next part of the Pokémon Go Ultra Bonuses just went live. This week’s set of bonuses include Deoxys joining raids and Kanto regional Pokémon hatching from seven kilometer eggs.

Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan, Farfetch’d, and Tauros will be hatching from any newly received seven kilometer eggs, with a chance to be Shiny. Note that any eggs obtained before now won’t have any of these regionals in them. Luckily, the regional Pokémon in eggs will continue even after this week’s bonus ends. They’ll be around until Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. ET. Just like last week, Incubators will hatch eggs in half the distance, so this is a good time to try to score some Kanto regionals that you may be missing.

A Rage 2 expansion is coming in late September

Rage 2 is getting its first expansion, Rise of the Ghosts, on Sept. 26, publisher Bethesda announced this morning.

With the new content, players will have access to a new story and area — Overgrown City — and fight against the Ghosts faction, an enemy introduced in Rage, but that hasn’t debuted in Rage 2 before. A new weapon, the Feltrite Laser Launcher, will also be introduced alongside a new ability, Void, and a new vehicle, Ghost Motorcycle.

Hideo Kojima’s P.T. hacked to find new secrets

The anticipation of what’s around the corner in Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills playable teaser, P.T., is what makes it so scary. What will we find around the next corner? The game’s biggest jump scares often come from Lisa, the ghost of a woman who inhabited the home. Players may not always know when Lisa will strike, but it feels like she’s always lurking. It turns out that’s because she is.

YouTube creator Lance McDonald has been digging into P.T.’s files for the past nine months to uncover secrets that might otherwise be lost to time. After all, P.T. is no longer easily playable; publisher Konami cancelled Silent Hills in 2015 and delisted P.T. on the PlayStation Store a few days later. Soon after, players realized they could no longer re-download the game even if they had done so previously. Multiple fan-made versions of P.T. are available, but the actual P.T. is near impossible to find.

Project Resistance revealed as team-based Resident Evil game

Project Resistance has been revealed ahead of the Tokyo Game Show as a “brand-new team-based survival horror experience,” perhaps similar to Resident Evil Outbreak.

The game looks like a four-player cooperative game using online multiplayer and features a variety of characters going against a robot man who seems to be in control. The robot man looks similar to Mr. X from Resident Evil 2, but we can’t be sure if it’s him or not.

Shenmue 3 gets a trial edition, refunds begin in September

Shenmue 3’s makers have outlined exactly how they will handle making refunds to crowdfunding donors upset that the game is an Epic Games Store exclusive. It does not sound like it will be a smooth or timely process.

In a note on Thursday, Ys Net told donors that an email survey will go out in mid-September to remind them of their platform choice and give them an opportunity to change that selection. This is just the beginning though. Refunds will begin for PC backers, but only after this survey runs its course. Moreover, PC players have only two weeks, the window in which the email survey is live, to ask for their money back.

Nintendo files weird patent for new Joy-Cons

A strange patent application Nintendo filed in Japan has fans guessing at its purpose, even before the necessary speculation of whether it’ll actually become a peripheral people can buy for the Switch. But there it is, a pair of Joy-Cons with a hinge.

The hinge flips the upper portion of each Joy-Con (left thumbstick on the left; face buttons on the right) downward, or away from the user, at about a 20 to 30 degree angle (eyeballing here). Shown against the natural posture of a hand with its thumb in the stick, this seems to be an ergonomic improvement.
