Overwatch on Nintendo Switch performance issues explained by Digital Foundry

Polygon has had its hands on Overwatch for Nintendo Switch for a few weeks now. Smashing the high-end shooter into a tiny, portable package is a nice trick, but the team at Chicago-based Iron Galaxy had to make compromises to get the job done. Now that the experts at Digital Foundry have done a deep dive, it’s clear what sorts of accommodations were made.

As a baseline, Digital Foundry discovered that what the developers said about the game’s performance is true. Overwatch runs at 900p while docked and 730p as a portable. But it’s not that simple.

Hitman 2’s Halloween event looks terrifying

On Twitter, Io Interactive posted a reveal trailer for Hitman 2’s Halloween event, which starts Oct. 22. The trailer isn’t exactly clear in what the event entails, but it is terrifying.

The trailer shows Hitman 2’s opening mission, set in a fancy house on an isolated beach. Instead of Agent 47, players take control of a figure with a jack-o’-lantern for a head, dressed completely in black. It seems the player’s goal is to murder the man in the house and then ... drag him to a ritual site.

Steam’s Remote Play Together feature enters beta today

A few weeks ago, Valve announced an upcoming Steam feature for fans of local multiplayer games like Towerfall Ascension or Nidhogg. Instead of forcing players to invite their real life friends over to play video games with them in person, players can now connect over the internet through the new Remote Play Together feature. This new feature hit Steam’s beta program today.

In the announcement, Valve revealed up to four — sometimes more — players can join a remote play lobby together to experience local co-op, local multiplayer, and shared/split screen games. The best part is that only the hosting player needs to own whatever game the group is playing.
