New Streets of Rage 4 trailer shows Adam Hunter in action

Streets of Rage 4 will feature Adam Hunter as a playable character, as revealed in a new trailer for the upcoming sidescrolling beat-’em-up. The next Streets of Rage game will be released on Nintendo Switch and other platforms in the first half of 2020, according to the trailer, which debuted during Nintendo’s Indie World stream.

Adam Hunter was one of three playable characters in the original Streets of Rage for Sega Genesis. But his spot on the roster was taken by Eddie “Skate” Hunter, Adam’s younger brother, in Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3. In Streets of Rage 4, Adam will fight alongside his daughter, Cherry, who was revealed this summer.

SuperMash is a video game that makes video games

Nintendo held a 20-minute Indie World showcase today, where the Japanese publisher revealed SuperMash, a new game by studio Digital Continue. As the name implies, SuperMash will allow the player to blend together different types of games in a way that makes every play through unique.

The premise has two siblings who run a shop discovering a game console with special powers. Sheenanigans ensue. Some of the genres you’ll be able to mash together include stealth games, platformers, and RPGs, among others — though the process only allows for two genres at a time. The results look wild based on the trailer showcased today. It’s almost as if you’re creating entirely new types of video games, depending on what you throw together. SuperMash is slated to release for the Nintendo Switch in May 2020.

Golf Story sequel Sports Story coming to Switch

2017’s surprise hit, Golf Story, is getting a sequel. Developed by the same team at Sidebar Games, Sports Story will continue to mash up sports with RPGs, but this time it won’t be locked to a single sport.

Sports Story, revealed today during Nintendo’s Indie World stream, will feature the same light-hearted tone and goofiness that made the original game so charming. But, as alluded in the title, it won’t be limited to golf this time. Basketball and tennis will both be major components of Sports Story, each with dramatically different gameplay mechanics because, well, they’re different sports.

Sorry Cayde fans, the Hunter Vanguard isn’t coming back to Destiny 2 with Saint-14

Bungie is bringing a dead hero back to life in Destiny 2’s upcoming Season of Dawn. The legendary Titan Saint-14 will rise again through some very complicated time travel. But with the return of one dead hero, plenty of players are hopeful another lost Guardian will return as well: the puckish rogue, Cayde-6.

Unfortunately, Bungie quashed those dreams almost instantly. In an interview with Bungie senior narrative designer Jonathan To and Season of Dawn design lead Tom Farnsworth, the developers told us why Cayde-6 isn’t coming back — at least not right now.

Pokémon Sword and Shield egg glitch hatches evolved monsters

Pokémon Sword and Shield egg glitch hatches evolved monsters

Usually, when you hatch a Pokémon egg, you’re left with the earliest creature in an evolutionary line. This monster will only know basic moves. If you want a stronger creature, you have to level it up ... that is, unless you know of a new exploit discovered in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The trick is simple, yet tricky — you need exact timing. First, you get the egg parent of the same species and place it in your party. The parent needs to be one rare candy away from leveling up and evolving. Then, you put the egg directly below the parent in the party menu. From there, you take the rare candy and use it on the parent. Immediately upon doing so, press down and hold the button. If you miss the timing, nothing will happen. But if you get it right, the process will somehow affect the egg, rather than the parent. The game will say that the egg is “evolving,” which shouldn’t be possible, except that it is! PlatinumGames reveals new gameplay of mysterious action game Babylon’s Fall

The action-packed gameplay appears to be highly combat-focused, but there’s still a lot we don’t know about the game. PlatinumGames said there’ll be more information on Babylon’s Fall “next summer.” There are a bunch of knights fighting in the new Babylon’s Fall trailer — some of which are very large — with “spectral swords.”
