Destiny 2 down for emergency maintenance after patch removes players’ items

On Tuesday, Bungie released a new patch for Destiny 2. Patch 2.7.1 mostly focuses on bug fixes for the shooter, fixing some of the game’s recent issues and broken weapons. But it appears the latest patch came with some unintended side effects as well.

Shortly after the patch hit live servers, the Bungie Help Twitter account tweeted “we’re currently investigating an issue where players may have lost their Glimmer and/or various infusion materials after 4.7.1 [sic] went live.” The studio has since taken Destiny 2 down for emergency maintenance. Players who attempt to log in may encounter an error message that reads, “Destiny 2 servers are not available.”

If Steven Universe and Undertale had a baby, it’d be this RPG

If Steven Universe and Undertale had a baby, it’d be this RPG

I knew Guildlings was special because, despite being a fantasy game, I wasn’t fighting typical enemies like orcs, goblins, or dragons. Actually, I wasn’t really doing “combat” at all ... not in the usual way we think about it, anyway. The point of encounters in Guildlings isn’t to attack and defeat your enemy — it’s to manage the moods of your party members.

All you have to do is survive a confrontation for long enough, and you’ll come out the other end. But how you come out of it is up in the air. Maybe the giant cobweb you got caught in made everyone in your party feel gross. This is a problem, because in order to solve the next puzzle, your healer needs to feel cool and capable enough to do it. Getting the right mood sometimes requires you to sacrifice the game’s equivalent of hit points to get everyone in the right mindset.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 continues its roll-out of free narrative content in February with the release of Episode 3. A new trailer shows combat on Coney Island, and a flashy new weapon available for all players.

Episode 3 continues the narrative action from the original campaign, which launched in March 2019. Players will be on the hunt for a scientist who holds the key to curing the plague ravaging the United States. Of course, they’re being held captive by the powerful Black Tusk faction. Today’s trailer shows the private military contractors letting loose a barrage of powerful anti-aircraft missiles commonly found on naval ships to deter ground-pounding Division agents.

Witcher spin-off Thronebreaker arrives on Nintendo Switch today

Just over a month after announcing the end of support for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game on consoles, CD Projekt Red will launch another Witcher spin-off for the Nintendo Switch. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales arrives on the hybrid console on Jan. 28.

Gwent itself has an interesting history. Originally implemented as a mini-game inside The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it was eventually spun out as its own standalone collectible card game. But the mechanics themselves fell flat, and interest in the game waned. In April 2018, CD Projekt wrote an open letter to the community promising a complete relaunch of the franchise. That relaunch was expected to include Thronebreaker as a kind of single-player campaign. Instead, it was spun out as a standalone card-base RPG.
