Final Fantasy 14 trailer shows dope reimagined summons as upcoming raid bosses

A new Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers trailer showcases a bunch of the new content being added to the game, including the new Eden raid bosses, the Ruby Weapon boss fight, and some snippets of story that have us at the edge of our seats.

It appears that the bosses from the next part of the Eden raids will pit players against reimagined Ramuh, Ifrit, and Garuda, along with some new faces. Ruby Weapon, the difficult boss from Final Fantasy 7, is also making an appearance in the game as part of a side quest line.

Destiny 2’s Crimson Days event includes Sparrows meant for two

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, Destiny 2’s Lord Shaxx is eager to bring the season of love back to the tower. In a post on its website, Bungie revealed the details for 2020’s Crimson Days event in Destiny 2, which runs Feb. 11-18.

Players familiar with Crimson Days past shouldn’t expect much new for this year’s Valentine’s Day stand-in. The event-exclusive bow, The Vow, is back again this year. And players interested in taking on their fellow Guardians in a more intimate setting can play the two-versus-two Crimson Doubles mode.

Harley Quinn is officially coming to Fortnite

After weeks of teases, Epic Games has finally announced that a Harley Quinn skin is coming to Fortnite. The skin will debut in the item shop Thursday at around 7 p.m. ET and will stay there until Feb. 17. Harley’s arriving in Fortnite just in time for the character’s new movie Birds of Prey, which is set to debut in theaters on Friday.

The skin will feature two different versions of Harley Quinn’s outfits. The first, which Epic is calling the Lil Monster XoXo Harley outfit, is similar to her costume from Suicide Squad — though there are a few differences. The second costume, which players will have to unlock by completing challenges, is called Always Fantabulous Harley and is more similar to her Birds of Prey look.

This Death Stranding toy has way too many packages

Sam Porter Bridges — in Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid form — has a very important mission: to deliver all the packages. The Japanese toy maker announced this week that it’s creating a vinyl figurine of Norman Reedus as Death Stranding’s Bridges.

It’s very cute, and comes with a ton of accessories. That’s either a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it. On one hand, you’re able to recreate the way I played through Death Stranding — walking at a glacial pace, boxes of all sizes stacked high on Sam’s back, stumbling over rough terrain. I mean, there’s nothing worse than making two trips, even if it takes me three hours to complete one mission.

“Leaving is bittersweet as I love our Gears family, the fans, and everyone at The Coalition and Xbox,” Fergusson said. Thank you, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with you all.”

Rockstar on Red Dead Online’s Moonshiners campaign and what’s coming next

Rockstar on Red Dead Online’s Moonshiners campaign and what’s coming next

Red Dead Online started off in the shadow of its big brother, Grand Theft Auto Online. The Western was comparatively sedate; the world was still being established. Red Dead, by its very nature, can’t crank the stakes up as high — there are no underground bunkers, orbital satellites, or Fast and the Furious-style sports cars.

Rockstar is working within those limitations, and the result is a much more tranquil and believable world. If Grand Theft Auto is a madcap theme park, where players fly by on their airborne, missile-firing motorcycles, then Red Dead Online is like a day at the park with friends, capped off by a laser tag session. I mosey into saloons and fistfight with my friends, or take my big beautiful horse, Hayseed, for a jaunt through the woods.

Epic teases Fortnite Birds of Prey tie-in

It looks like Harley Quinn is coming to Fortnite. The Fortnite Twitter account tweeted a teaser image of Harley’s mallet along with her signature Suicide Squad hairstyle, which all but confirms that a Birds of Prey tie-in event is on the way. On top of the teaser, there have also been Harley Quinn skins datamined from the game’s most recent patch.

While there’s still no concrete confirmation of a Birds of Prey tie-in to Fortnite, this is the second time that the official Twitter account has made a reference to the movie, which is set to come out Feb. 7. Birds of Prey is a loose spinoff of 2017’s Suicide Squad and stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Near the end of January, the Fortnite account replied to a cast video from Birds of Prey with the phrase “See you soon Harley,” which certainly seemed to suggest a collaboration.

Kingdom Hearts All-in-One Package will bring players most of the series’ complicated story

There are a lot of Kingdom Hearts games. So many, in fact, that Square Enix is releasing a brand new bundle called Kingdom Hearts All-in-One Package, which brings together every game in the series so far all the way up to Kingdom Hearts 3.

This new game is essentially a bundle of Kingdom Hearts 3 along with the previously released, Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far. This means that the new release will include Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, which are comprised of several other Kingdom Hearts games:

Phil Spencer says Amazon and Google are Xbox’s real competition

With a new console generation right around the corner, Microsoft is setting its sights higher than a traditional console war. Phil Spencer, head of gaming for Microsoft, recently told technology publication Protocol he doesn’t view Sony and Nintendo as the company’s primary competition going forward. Instead, Spencer sees the future of gaming being fought over cloud computing between companies like Google, Amazon, and of course, Microsoft.

“When you talk about Nintendo and Sony, we have a ton of respect for them, but we see Amazon and Google as the main competitors going forward,” said Spencer. “That’s not to disrespect Nintendo and Sony, but the traditional gaming companies are somewhat out of position. I guess they could try to re-create Azure, but we’ve invested tens of billions of dollars in cloud over the years.”
