World of Warcraft’s latest raid boss reset mid-fight — for every player in North America

With World of Warcraft’s Visions of N’Zoth patch, players are actively battling through Battle for Azeroth’s final raid: Ny’alotha, the Waking City. Over six days, the world’s best guilds already took down 11 of the raid’s 12 bosses in the race to world’s first. But when the American guild Complexity Limit took on N’Zoth, the final boss, it discovered a bug that broke the Old God for World of Warcraft players across the country.

The reset seems due to a bug, but players still aren’t positive exactly what happened — just that N’Zoth was behaving strangely. At 60% health, N’Zoth spawns a giant portal at the back of the arena and goes immune — beckoning everyone inside for another phase of the fight. But during one of Limit’s attempts, the boss seemingly forgot to use his immunity shield at the right time.

Apex Legends season 4 gameplay trailer shows off Revenant in action

There’s no doubt that Revenant is the most anticipated part of Apex Legends season 4. The deadly new Legend has remained fairly mysterious up until now, but in the season’s first gameplay trailer, we finally got a look at what kind of skills this dangerous assassin will bring to the game.

The trailer shows off Revenant’s ability to make himself and his teammates turn into smoke, though it isn’t clear what that might do. Another moment shows Revenant shooting what looks like a mortar or grenade from his arm, but we’ll have to wait for his full release for more details on that ability.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ villagers have a whole new layer of fashion

Images of Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s updated villager models have appeared, showcasing the adorable animals not just with textures plastered onto their bodies, but actual clothes.

The new images are reportedly from Nintendo’s European press site, with some published in a GameXplain video. In the video, you can see a random selection of Animal Crossing villagers in their shiny, new glory. Rather than just having a texture of a random shirt pattern on their bodies, shown like a sleeveless shirt, the animals are actually wearing clothes. Real clothes!

Many Escape from Tarkov players want a server wipe, but it’s not coming anytime soon

Escape from Tarkov, the hardcore survival shooter from the team at Battlestate Games, is a hit. But some fans think the sudden popularity of the game, which spiked over the New Year holiday, has upset its delicate balance. Many are calling for a reset — a global wipe of every player’s progress to date. According to developers, that reset is already on the calendar. Just don’t expect it to be anytime soon.

Tarkov is an unusual game in that it blends tactical first-person shooter action with light role-playing game elements. Characters improve over time, and players can even select perks once they reach higher levels in a given skill. But, the primary marker of player progress is the quality of gear they drop into a session with. Even with low-level skills, someone with a great set of optics and a suppressed weapon will have an advantage against other players on the map.

My Hero Academia writer apologizes for referencing Japanese war crimes in manga

My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi is changing the name of a recently revealed character in response to fan backlash.

Dr. Daruma Ujiko’s full name was revealed as Maruta Shiga in Chapter 259 of My Hero Academia, with “maruta” being the Japanese name for victims of human experimentation during World War II. Seeing as the character is a follower of series villain All For One and a scientist who actually does experiment on humans, this left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths.

900 players banned from Temtem as dev issues — then repeals — aggressive ban policy

Developer Crema Games is taking an aggressive stance on cheaters in its Pokémon-like MMO, Temtem: no second chances. The developer announced a massive ban wave — “almost 900 players” — on Monday, originally stating it wouldn’t consider appealing the bans.

“We’ve made 100% sure that every banned user is either a cheater or has abused exploits intentionally,” Crema wrote on Twitter. It continued in a second tweet: “And we’re not done with this, we will keep detecting and banning. There’s no place in the Archipelago for cheaters.”

Patrick Mahomes officially broke the Madden cover curse

Perhaps the Madden NFL “cover curse” — a piece of statistical mythology that took hold after a string of bad-luck seasons befell the first 10 or so players to get the honor — can be laid to rest.

Sunday night, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 31-20 Super Bowl LIV triumph, and became just the second (of 22) Madden NFL cover stars to win a Super Bowl in the season of his cover appearance. And Mahomes is the first cover star to win the Super Bowl MVP in that season.
