The text below is listed under his current position at Blizzard, among other achievements like Skylanders Academy and a Call of Duty cinematic universe.

Brenda Romero’s Empire of Sin delayed until fall 2020

Empire of Sin, the turn-based game from veteran game designer Brenda Romero, has been delayed until fall 2020. The announcement was made on the game’s official Twitter account.

First announced during E3 2019, Empire of Sin is a turn-based game in the style of XCOM. but with a distinctive setting. The action takes place in Prohibition-era Chicago, and players will manage the affairs of their own gang of bootleggers. The action plays out from an overhead perspective, and also features a larger strategic layer. The game calls to mind Romero’s work on the classic Jagged Alliance series, which feathered in strategic elements alongside turn-based action and a narrative campaign.

Fortnite’s new season is getting some very mysterious teasers

After numerous delays, it finally seems like Fortnite chapter 2 season 2 will start soon. As a lead up to the season’s launch, Epic is releasing teasers, just like it normally does. But this season’s teasers are a lot more confusing than they’ve been in the past.

The teasers started on Monday morning with a few cryptic tweets from the Fortnite account. Everything in the tweets is black and gold — the Fortnite logo in the Epic launcher has changed to the same color scheme. The first tweet said, “Transmission Intercepted,” and every subsequent tweet appeared to be some kind of encoded message that had been scrambled.

Logitech gaming accessories are up to half off in Amazon deal of the day

An Amazon Gold Box deal on Tuesday is bringing discounts on Logitech gaming and audio accessories. For 24 hours only (or until they sell out), keyboards, headsets, mice, and speakers are down to all-time-low prices.

This deal is a great opportunity if you’re looking to upgrade an entry-level gaming setup to something closer to the mid-tier. The Logitech G502 SE Hero mouse launched in 2018 for $79.99, though it’s been hovering around $40 for the past several months. Today it’s down to $29.50, the lowest price we’ve seen. Logitech’s G633 Artemis Spectrum headset is a full $100 off at $49.99, another all-time-low price (though it’s been down to around $53 in the past). And the G910 Orion Spark keyboard, which typically retails for around $100, is on sale for a low $83.99. (MSRP is $179.99.)

Final Fantasy 14 patch adds new raid tier and great quality of life changes

Square Enix’s latest patch for Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers introduces a smorgasbord of new content that should excite just about every player of the game.

Final Fantasy 7’s Ruby Weapon is now a boss in the game, the next tier of the Eden raids have been added, and there are even more story quests leading up to the next part of the NieR: Automata alliance raids. The next alliance raid itself isn’t out yet, alas, but it’s possible it will be included in patch 5.3.

Kickstarter employees vote to unionize, relieving tension among game developers

The employees of the influential crowdfunding platform Kickstarter have voted to form a union. The decision ends months of conflict at the small New York-based technology company, and lifts a veil of uncertainty from hundreds of creators who regularly use the platform to fund tabletop games and video games.

The announcement was made this morning by organizers at Kickstarter United, who tweeted out a picture of beaming employees celebrating their win. Last year Kickstarter management refused to voluntarily recognize the union, forcing a formal vote by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The final tally was relatively close.

Temtem update adds something like Pokémon’s Safari Zone

Nearly every Pokémon game includes something called a Safari Zone, a special area where rare wild monsters roam. And now, Temtem, the monster-collecting MMO, has something that’s clearly been inspired by the Safari Zone — except the concept has been updated for the age of games-as-service.

A February 17 update to Temtem adds The Saipark, an end-game area that acts as a natural reserve. The Temtem that you can encounter here change every week, and there’s a big incentive to check them out. According to the patch notes, there’s a higher chance of Saipark’s creatures appearing in unique Luma colors. Saipark’s Temtem also have egg moves, as well as better stats in general.

Nvidia is making a limited edition Cyberpunk graphics card, but you can’t buy one

Nvidia has created a limited edition Cyberpunk 2077-themed graphics card, but it won’t be sold in stores. All 200 units will either be given away or auctioned off for charity. The first model is up for grabs right now via a sweepstakes that ends Feb. 28.

The top-of-the-line GPU — called the RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Edition — is surrounded by a custom aluminum shroud featuring CD Projekt Red’s branding for the upcoming role-playing game. Units also come with a special edition box, which Nvidia says is “perfect for a collector’s shelf.”

Pokémon cartoon shows us what happens after a gym leader’s defeat

Pokémon cartoon shows us what happens after a gym leader’s defeat

As Pokémon trainers, our ascent to Champion status in the video game franchise is practically foretold. The gym leaders along the way, meanwhile, are supposed to be the best in the world — so you gotta imagine that these people feel something when they get beat. And while some leaders take defeat gracefully, some of them seem likely to struggle with their failure and perhaps doubt themselves in the future. Gym leaders are, after all, merely human.

This isn’t something we ever see in the games, but it’s the entire premise behind the latest short for Pokémon: Twilight Wings. Here, fighting-type specialist Bea from Pokémon Sword gets bested by Leon, the Galar champion. Dismayed, Bea takes some time off from her gym to go and train in the desert. She’s determined to better herself, which is an admirable goal, except she might take it a little too far here.
