Here’s what Isabelle will do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

During Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons livestream presentation, the developer detailed the return of everyone’s favorite Shih Tzu. That’s right, Isabelle the GOAT is back, and she’s here to help you on your new island life.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Isabelle acts as the secretary to the player’s mayoral role. Based on the brief footage shown during today’s Nintendo Direct, it seems that Isabelle will support the player with general operations around the island getaway. Options shown included changing island evaluations, changing the island tune, changing the flag, and discussing the residents. So, she’s taking on a very similar role as despite technically not being your secretary any more.

Fortnite’s season 2 trailer shows off a cat-faced man and its spy theme

Every new Fortnite season opens with a trailer, and season 2 of chapter 2 is no different. While last season was all about fishing and exploring a new island, season 2 picks up where the teasers left off, by giving us a massive conspiracy full of agencies and spies.

The trailer (seen above) gives us a look at two sides of a war, with rival spy agencies duking it out in the battlefield. The big hook this season seems to be about picking a side, and players will actually have to decide which final style to unlock (from the two agencies) for each of the battle pass skins.

Final Fantasy 14 now lets me have an entire shelf dedicated to cheese

I’ve been sifting through the content in Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringerslatest patch for the past day or so now, and I’ve found the most important new update: the Cheese Collection.

Square Enix added a furnishing item that is a shelf of cheese. A Twitter user pointed out the shelf and I immediately logged on to craft the shelf for myself. I gathered the wood, turned it into lumber, and got ready to make my dream shelf. I did not, however, make the cheese from scratch. It was cheap enough on the marketboard, so I bought it, except the person sold it in a stack of 97, so I’m pleased to also announce that I am now the owner of 93 extra bowls of cottage cheese.

A short film provides a striking look inside Wuhan’s coronavirus lockdown

Since the coronavirus outbreak began in December, reactions in the Western Hemisphere have ranged from confused to flippant (jokes about Corona beer) to racist and xenophobic (the severe drop in business in Chinatowns all over the U.S.). In part, it’s been a symptom of just how remote the outbreak feels — though there are at least a thousand confirmed cases worldwide, more than 74,000 have been infected in mainland China (killing more than 2,000 people), and reports have generally focused on less human aspects in favor of the outbreak’s effects on the Chinese film industry. A new short documentary film, Wuhan: The Long Night, seems primed to properly convey the magnitude of what’s happening.

Filmmaker Lan Bo initially went to the city of Wuhan to shoot a feature film. The lockdown to try to contain the virus, which occurred on January 23, meant the crew were forced to change their plans. Stranded in Wuhan, they decided to use their time and efforts to document what was happening around them.

Homeworld 3 devs are working on another space game, but it’s definitely not an RTS

Homeworld 3 devs are working on another space game, but it’s definitely not an RTS

The team behind Homeworld 3, Blackbird Interactive, has a second game coming to early access this summer. Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a campy, first-person exploration of the spacefaring genre that puts players in the role of a “cutter,” tasked with chopping up old starships for scrap. You can watch the game’s first trailer on YouTube, and embedded above. There’s more information on the way tomorrow via Twitch at 11:00 a.m. ET.

But that name should sound familiar. Blackbird used something very similar as the original title for a very different video game. It was a game that ultimately led to the studio’s return to its roots in the Homeworld franchise.

Star Wars fans anxiously awaiting a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker rewatch won’t have to wait much longer: The final installment in the Skywalker Saga is coming to home video in March, Lucasfilm announced on Wednesday. Blu-ray and DVD copies will hit shelves on March 31, while digital copies will hit digital shelves two weeks earlier, on March 17.

In addition to the 142-minute movie, the new release includes a feature-length documentary, The Skywalker Legacy, about the making of the film. (Home releases of The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and all three Star Wars prequels also featured making-of documentaries.) The bonus features also include behind-the-scenes footage revealing how production teams created and populated the galaxy far, far away. The digital release has an exclusive interview with Star Wars’ legendary composer John Williams.
