Spider-Man artist explains how he designed Peter Parker’s nipples and bulge

Every video game is composed of a million little details that someone, somewhere, had to make a decision about. And in Marvel’s Spider-Man, which lets players sling around in Peter Parker’s underwear, it means that someone had to decide how to depict Spider-Man’s nipples and butt.

Midway through February, environmental artist Ryan Benno made an amusing viral tweet about the process involved in designing a video game character.

Xbox One update will finally let you eject discs with a controller

Since the console’s launch in 2013, players have been clamoring for a way to eject Xbox One discs from the comfort of their couch. The Xbox 360 allowed players to eject remotely using the Y button. But the feature didn’t make it to the Xbox One. However, the latest Xbox Preview Program patch, available to Xbox Insiders, appears to restore the beloved feature.

According to a poster on the Xbox One subreddit, some Xbox Preview Program members can now press X on the Xbox One’s home screen to remotely eject whatever disc is inside their drive. What players do with the disc once it’s dangling outside the disc tray is their own business.

World of Horror lets me bring doom upon myself

World of Horror lets me bring doom upon myself

Choose-your-own-adventure stories always have an early option to avoid the adventure entirely, where I don’t go to the haunted circus, or I don’t take the spooky cursed book hiding on a dusty shelf. As a kid, I would dutifully stick my finger in place and then flip to this false ending — usually a glib “you live to a very old, boring age, are you happy?” — and then gleefully turn back to the horrors that awaited me.

World of Horror, a horror RPG with retro styles recently released in early access on Steam, captures too well the part of me that was desperate to go to the haunted circus and read that cursed book. Players are given horrifying mysteries to chase, like a contagious coma or a mysterious woman cutting people’s faces, but these function more as loose frameworks in which to have individual terrifying encounters. From creepy kitchens and classrooms to eerie people asking for help, these encounters come with options on how to respond. And for the life of me, I couldn’t resist choosing the worst choice possible.

Disc Room looks like Smash TV, but every enemy is a buzzsaw

Devolver Digital’s latest game, Disc Room, is a run-based action-adventure in which players must navigate and survive rooms filled with deadly sawblades. It’s a fast-paced, top-down hardcore game for Windows PC, that’s reminiscent of classic arcade game Smash TV.

Players can use a special dash move, to save themselves from danger, but otherwise need to sprint around rooms, attempting to survive. Screenshots for the game show a timer, which players presumably need to outlast to win the room. Other rooms include puzzles and locked doors.

Microsoft confirms Xbox Series X backward compatibility, Game Pass details

It’s clear that Xbox Game Pass is a cornerstone of Microsoft’s video game business from now into the future, and the company reiterated that Monday by announcing that the subscription service will continue to offer all first-party games on Xbox Series X — including launch title Halo Infinite — on the day of their release.

In an Xbox Wire post providing further details on its next-generation plans, Microsoft also discussed how the Xbox Series X will allow players to carry forward their existing game libraries. As the company announced in December upon revealing the console’s name and design at The Game Awards, the Xbox Series X will support all four generations of Xbox consoles, going all the way back to the original Xbox (as well as Xbox One accessories such as controllers). Microsoft said Monday that backward compatibility will deliver “steadier framerates, faster load times and improved resolution and visual fidelity,” without developers having to do any additional work.
