Animal Crossing fans are making great turnip storage solutions

Animal Crossing fans are making great turnip storage solutions

The Stalk Market returns in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, allowing players to buy turnips for a low Bell price and then, hopefully, sell the veggies back at a higher price. Most players buy hundreds, if not thousands of turnips in the hopes of striking it rich. So it’s particularly bizarre that Nintendo doesn’t allow players to actually use the game’s built-in storage to house all of these items.

All houses come with storage, which can be upgraded — but no matter what you do, turnips can’t go there. So, nearly everyone I know now has a devoted “turnip room” that’s a space dedicated to tossing your turnips down until you can sell them. Some are even filling up their beaches, or creating gated areas that other players can’t breach to protect their investment.

Saints Row: The Third remaster coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Deep Silver announced on Monday morning that a remastered version of its 2011 action adventure Saints Row: The Third will be released in May.

Saints Row: The Third Remastered will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on May 22. The outlandish open-world game was first released in 2011. Developed by Volition, it lampooned Grand Theft Auto-style urban gang war games, making use of comedic devices such as silly weapons and over-the-top characters.

Animal Crossing nerfs some eggs drop rates for Bunny Day

Animal Crossing nerfs some eggs drop rates for Bunny Day

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is celebrating Easter through Bunny Day, an ongoing event that fills your island up with multiple types of eggs that you can collect. These eggs can be crafted into themed pastel items, which is a nice idea, except the sheer number of eggs got in the way of the base game experience — and players have been loud about that. Well, Nintendo is listening.

A update went live midway through the Bunny Day event, and according to Nintendo’s official Japanese patch notes — which we’ve translated via Google — the 1.1.4 update has “the appearance rate of some eggs adjusted.” In a follow-up bullet point, the website notes that eggs will be easier to collect on Easter, the final day of the event (April 12.) So, fewer eggs overall for now, but if you’re hurting to finish your DIY collection for Zipper, you’ll still get a chance to complete the Easter set before the event goes away. A good compromise.

Boston authorities shut down GameStop and stores close statewide

State and local authorities in Massachusetts have ordered all GameStops there to close, ending a weeklong standoff in which the games retailer insisted it was an essential business and continued to serve customers with curbside pickups.

The Boston Globe reported on Friday that Boston city inspectors ordered GameStop’s Dorchester location to close down on Tuesday, then visited it on Wednesday to make sure it wasn’t open. The store was not fined but it was given a nuisance citation. GameStop later confirmed to The Globe that it had closed all stores in Massachusetts but didn’t comment further.

Call of Duty may use Humvees without maker’s permission, judge rules

Activision’s Call of Duty franchise may use and show Humvees without paying a license to the military vehicles’ maker, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.

AM General, which developed the Humvee in 1983 and has manufactured it since, sued Activision Blizzard in 2017, saying that the Humvee’s unauthorized appearance in several Call of Duty video games since 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare lent authenticity and value to the series without due compensation or permission.

Pokémon Go spring event will bring more flower-wearing Pokémon

Pokémon Go is celebrating the arrival of spring with a weeklong event that will kick off April 9, and give some Pokémon new flowery headwear.

A few Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, including Exeggcute (which has a chance to be shiny), Chansey, Mareep, Marill, and Torchic. Also appearing in the wild — and both of them with a chance to be shiny — will be Buneary wearing a flower crown and Pikachu wearing a flower hat.
