Destiny 2: Season of the Lost’s calendar is mysterious

After four weeks of Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost, Bungie finally launched the calendar and roadmap for the game’s current season. But unlike previous schedules, which listed out the exact dates for events and quests, Season of the Lost’s calendar roadmap is surprisingly sparse.

Season of the Lost is already in a unique position. Due to The Witch Queen’s delay earlier this year, Season of the Lost will run from August of this year to Feb. 22, 2022. That’s a six month season, where seasons like Splicer and Chosen traditionally last for only three. With the long season, Bungie has a lot of seasonal events to cram into Season of the Lost. And with the Bungie 30th Anniversary add-on pack coming later this year, the content drought shouldn’t be too unbearable.

Fortnite ‘blacklisted’ by Apple, Epic Games CEO says

Following a ruling in Fortnite creator Epic Games’ lawsuit against Apple, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says Apple will blacklist Fortnite from its ecosystem until its appeals process makes the judgment final.

“Apple lied,” Sweeney said on Twitter. “Apple spent a year telling the world, the court, and the press they’d ‘welcome Epic’s return to the App Store if they agree to play by the same rules as everyone else.’ Epic agreed, and now Apple has reneged in another abuse of its monopoly power over a billion users.”

Blade Runner tabletop RPG on the way from the team behind Alien, Tales from the Loop

The Blade Runner franchise is being turned into a tabletop role-playing game, and Free League Publishing is charged with bringing it to life. The first in a series of new products is expected in 2022. The announcement was made on Thursday.

The Blade Runner tabletop RPG will cast players in the role of Replicant Blade Runners, hard-boiled detectives on the hunt for artificial humans. The Core Rules book will help game masters to create storylines in and around Los Angeles in 2037, smack dab in between the events of the original film starring Harrison Ford and Blade Runner 2019.

The Sims 4’s massive free update is an interior decorator’s dream

The Sims 4’s Dream Home Decorator game pack did a lot for players interested in home renovation and design, but a new base game update published Tuesday is, arguably, a much bigger deal.

Developer Maxis added two new kits to The Sims 4: Fashion Street and Incheon Arrivals, inspired by India and South Korea, respectively. Most of the stuff in these kits is available only if players buy them, but Maxis added a new, free base game update, too. And it’s an update that’s been a long time coming — expert Sims builders have been asking for this level of customization for some time now. The Sims 4 art team added around 1,200 new item variants to 149 base game items in Build Mode, publisher Electronic Arts said in an update on The Sims 4 website. To put it simply, 149 items now have a massive selection of different color and pattern swatches, which means that you can make things match in new ways. Curtains! Wood swatches that match! Colorful stoves!

Destiny 2 getting a fashion magazine for the game’s most stylish players

Destiny 2 getting a fashion magazine for the game’s most stylish players

Fashion is power in Destiny 2, but players are interested in more than just pure stats. Sure, players want armor and other gear that’ll make their characters more powerful — but plenty of players place equal importance on just how dang good they look. Since Destiny, fashionable players have been convening in the /r/DestinyFashion subreddit, where players share their best looks and how they acquired them — a process that sometimes means a major grind.

Destiny 2 developer Bungie has clearly noticed the appeal of a stylish guardian, and to honor that, it’s creating a digital fashion magazine featuring looks from the game. Called Threads of Light, the magazine is for “celebrating [the] community’s creativity and showcasing the best guardian fashion styles,” Bungie said in a tweet about the magazine.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s strategy means getting a tree and a raccoon to listen to you

Guardians of the Galaxy’s strategy means getting a tree and a raccoon to listen to you

The action in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t necessarily squad-based or team tactics combat, but there is an order of battle the player must follow, especially for the big set-piece battles. Keep this in mind if you pick up Eidos-Montreal’s take on Marvel’s adventure-dramedy at the end of October: Have a plan, and make choices to advance it. You’re not going to get out of a throwdown simply by telling Rocket to blow everything up.

This is because the Guardians all deal two types of damage: regular, and stagger. Stagger damage is what really breaks down a foe’s defense (or shrinks their health bar). It is frustrating, seeing your four teammates deal no damage of either type without your instructions, and they can barely divert a team of mind-controlled Nova Corps from focusing all their firepower on Peter Quill/Star-Lord, whom you play exclusively through the game.

Overwatch 2 chief leaves Activision Blizzard

Chacko Sonny, the executive producer for Overwatch and development head for Overwatch 2, is leaving developer Blizzard Entertainment. According to Bloomberg, Sonny plans to leave at the end of the week, the latest departure in a larger exodus from the publisher following state and federal investigations into alleged sexual harassment and discrimination at the company.

A statement given by a Blizzard representative to Polygon regarding Sonny’s departure doesn’t mention the company’s ongoing legal battle or internal reckoning.

Deathloop’s PC version has a new patch to fix its camera stuttering

Deathloop is getting praise from just about everyone who plays it, but the PC version has a few problems. The worst of these is a camera stutter that happens just about every time players move their mouse. It’s an extremely frustrating issue, but one that Arkane hopes to have fixed with a new patch released on Tuesday.

According to the patch notes that Arkane released with the new update, Tuesday’s hotfix aims to address issues that PC players have had where “mouse-based camera movements could result in the appearance of ‘stutter.’” That’s a lot of qualifiers to parse, but it seems like Arkane is saying that these aren’t actually frame rate stutters, they just have the “appearance” of them. Whatever the problem was, hopefully this patch makes it feel a little better.

Pokémon Unite adding new Squads feature, Space Gengar in new season

Pokémon Unite is about to go even more mobile with its iOS and Android versions arriving on Wednesday, but the update will also add new content to the game. A new blog post from The Pokémon Company detailed a new battle pass, upcoming in-game events, Unite Squads, and cross-platform play, and also teased some upcoming content.

The mobile version of Pokémon Unite, which The Pokémon Company will launch on Sept. 22, includes the same Pokémon and maps that players have come to love. Fans can link their mobile and Nintendo Switch accounts to share progress and even matchmake into games with players on either version.
