Modder patches Bloodborne to run at a buttery 60 fps on PS4

Bloodborne is a great game, and fans are still returning to try and unravel the inner workings of the 2016 action RPG. One modder, Lance McDonald, says he has patched Bloodborne to make the game run at 60 fps on PlayStation 4.

McDonald is well known in gaming communities for taking apart games to find their secrets; previously, he uncovered some spooky set-ups and cut content from horror classic P.T., and unearthed hidden bosses from Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. On Tuesday, he made a series of tweets documenting his progress on a Bloodborne patch that boosted the frame rate. As he explains,

Epic Games Store now requires two-factor authentication for free games

The Epic Games Store offers free titles for players who sign in and claim them. So far, it’s been a nice little bonus to those who are willing to split their game library to another game launcher. Beginning April 28, there’ll be a slight barrier between players and their free Epic-granted games: two-factor authentication.

From April 28 to May 21, the Epic Games Store will require two-factor authentication (2FA) before someone can claim their free games. With two-factor authentication, players will need to enter a separate security code before signing in to their account. Players who do not have 2FA enabled will see this message when trying to claim a free game:

This entire Animal Crossing island is an incredible obstacle course

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans know how to make their own fun — sometimes, that might mean devoting an area to net jousting, musical stumps, or high-stakes tag. But these efforts pale in comparison to one island, which has been terraformed entirely to be a huge race for players. I’ve never seen anything like it.

A group known as Shrimp Club has uploaded some amazing footage of this island to Facebook, and it’s a wonder to behold.

Rogue One writer launches a late-night talk show inside Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the chilled out game our world so clearly needs right now, giving folks trapped inside something to pass the time. Now that many players have made their way through the main campaign, they’re putting the game’s assets to alternate uses. That includes screenwriter Gary Whitta, who recently kicked off a late-night talk show in the basement of his Nook-built home.

Formerly the editor-in-chief of both the American and British editions of PC Gamer, Whitta is also the screenwriter of The Book of Eli, co-wrote After Earth with M. Night Shayamalan, and co-developed the story for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He’s also had a hand in making multiple video games, including Duke Nukem Forever, Gears of War, Prey and Telltale’s The Walking Dead.

Electronic Arts is bringing its games to Google Stadia. The publisher will release at least five games, including this year’s Madden NFL and FIFA sports simulations and 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, on Stadia in 2020 “and beyond.”

Jedi: Fallen Order will come to Google Stadia this fall, while Madden and FIFA are slated for some time this winter. Google and EA did not announce what the other two games coming to Stadia beyond 2020 would be, but Phil Harrison, vice president and general manager at Google, promised more details on EA’s plans during a Stadia Connect video presentation.

You can now hire someone to pull weeds in Animal Crossing

Not everyone hates Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ weeds. They’ve started to grow on meheh — and I’m letting them grow wild on the upper tiers of my island, Sears. But for some players, the weeds are overwhelming. Time travelers are especially impacted by weeds. They spread quickly around islands, stalks and clovers sprouting up wildly. Want to time travel but don’t want to pick those weeds? You can hire someone to do that. The best part? It’s free!

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player, Tyran, started a weed pulling business: WeedCo Weed Removal Services. Demand for the business has been so high that Tyran is hiring new weeders to keep up. Advertised on Reddit and spotted by Eurogamer this morning, WeedCo Weed Removal Services is absolutely free, but tips are encouraged. “We work for free but accept tips,” Tyran said on Reddit. “Don’t worry, people are usually very generous.”
