Fortnite is getting a Party Royale mode, so you can give your guns a rest

Fortnite data miners have found evidence of a brand new map. The map appears to be part of a new Limited-Time Mode called Party Royale that involves hanging out with friends instead of fighting.

While images of the map came from many of Fortnite’s different sources, some of the most complete previews came from Twitter user Lucas7yoshi, one of Fortnite’s most prolific data miners. According to Lucas7yoshi the map may be called Papaya, and Party Royale might be the mode players play on it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s new console patch requires a 15 GB download

The latest patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is here, and console players had better starting clearing some hard drive space. The patch will require a “data pack” download for consoles, which requires a large amount of storage space. The update also brings a new item to Warzone, as well as several bug fixes.

When PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players open Modern Warfare after today’s update is released and select a game mode, they’ll be taken to an install menu. From that menu, players will download the data pack portion of the update, all 15 GB of it.

Ubisoft teases the next Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft is teasing the next Assassin’s Creed game on YouTube in the form of a multi-hour livestream with artist Kode Abdo, better known as BossLogic, revealing the game’s setting. And that setting appears to be the Viking Age, as heavily rumored.

BossLogic’s artwork shows what appears to be Viking warriors battling in a sun-drenched field on one side, and boats navigating icy waters on the other. A silhouette of what appears to be a Viking warrior bisects the two scenes. Beyond that, little is known about the new Assassin’s Creed. The game is slated to come out sometime in 2020 on unspecified platforms.

Changing XCOM for Chimera Squad was hard, even the legendary Sid Meier had a go

Changing XCOM for Chimera Squad was hard, even the legendary Sid Meier had a go

XCOM: Chimera Squad changes a lot about classic XCOM, but the biggest departure is in the turn order itself. The decision to mix things up was controversial, and early on many members of the development team got in on the action. None carry more weight than Sid Meier, the creator of the Civilization franchise and the director of creative development at Firaxis Games. The industry legend was a big proponent of the changes, and even built a custom prototype himself.

The change to the XCOM formula in Chimera Squad is referred to as Interleaved Turns. Instead of moving all your units and then waiting for the computer to move all of its units, allied soldiers and enemy units are shuffled together in a kind of rolling initiative order. It seems like a subtle thing, but as I said in my review, it completely alters the flow of the game and helps it stand apart from other titles in the franchise. Simply put, the Interleaved Turn allows Chimera Squad to do things that no other XCOM game has been able to do before.

Star Wars Battlefront 2’s next major update will be its last. Developer DICE says with the addition of the planet Scarif from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, “the vision” for the 2017 Star Wars shooter “is now complete.”

“Since launch, we’ve brought new content in the form of free updates to the entire player base, delivering immersive Star Wars battles you can play solo, with friends, and against others across the entire Skywalker Saga,” DICE creative director Dennis Brännvall said on the official Battlefront website. “This vision will now be realized as we complete our return to the Age of Rebellion, which we started on February.”

This Call of Duty: Warzone clip shows the power of the Akimbo .357s

Call of Duty: Warzone is all about playing aggressive to get the win. But there’s standard aggressive, and then there’s “Akimbo .357 custom revolvers wiping out an entire squad” aggressive.

On Reddit, user ssieK posted a 55-second video of them getting four kills and numerous downs to end the game. While the clip is very impressive, some fans think the dual-wielded weapons are a bit too strong.

Valorant’s new patch lets you know where you’re getting shot from

Valorant’s about to get a ranked mode, but first Riot Games has another patch for the tactical shooter. This time around the focus is on changing some of the game’s biggest bugs and making in-game information easier to understand, but there’s still an Omen buff in there so Riot isn’t skipping out on Agent balance.

Omen is this patch’s only Agent balance change, but it’s still an important one. Players now must be closer to Omen’s Ultimate, From the Shadows, to hear where he teleports to. This should give Omen a much bigger advantage when he’s trying to sneak up on enemies. On the other hand, it’s also going to be more clear when his teleport is finished, so players know when they can shoot Omen, which was something many players struggled with on the game’s current patch.
