Warframe gets an LA-Noire-style serial killer story

Today at 2 p.m. EST, Warframe players will be able to download a new update with brand new cosmetics, a few fixes, and a new mystery to uncover. This update includes the third series of Nightwave, which is the game’s battle-pass like system that gradually tells side stories within the Warframe universe. Previous Nightwave entries have been the tale of a famous felon and a story about a particularly suspicious cult leader. This time, we’re getting a noir-shaded story about a sinister serial killer.

Players can access Glassmaker by logging in. As they achieve in-game goals and challenges, they will earn access to a simulated environment that shows the serial killer’s crime scenes. From there, the world will work like a very sci-fi version of LA Noire.

Loba’s been confirmed for quite a while and we saw her abilities on Monday. She’s sneaking into season 5 with a kit fit for a master thief. Loba can see rare loot through walls, vacuum up all the loot in a small area directly to her staff, and even teleport short distances to get out of a jam.

Animal Crossing fans keep joking about ‘Raymond in boxes’

Animal Crossing fans keep joking about ‘Raymond in boxes’

At this point, it might not be a stretch to say that the wider Animal Crossing: New Horizons economy revolves around a smug cat. Raymond, the feline with heterochromia, is likely the most expensive thing you can buy on the black market. If you dare say you’ve got Raymond available for adoption, you’ll get inundated by hopefuls who want the grey villager on their island.

The fervor around Raymond is hot enough that one viral post saw a players receiving seemingly unhinged messages from other Raymond fans trying to pressure them into giving the cat up because they don’t “deserve” him. Another viral post purports to show a scam through which someone tricks another player into paying for the privilege of merely looking at Raymond, not getting him.

Valorant’s latest patch makes it harder to run and shoot, nerfs Sage and Cypher

Valorant’s ranked mode has been out for almost two weeks now and that means it’s time for a new patch. In this first major post-ranked patch, Riot is changing how accuracy works when shooting, updating a few guns, and bringing all kinds of character changes.

The biggest change this patch is how accuracy works. In Valorant, you have to be standing still or walking to have accurate shots. But, one of the most popular strategies for many players was to run and then stop moving. In the period between running and stopping, shots would be much more accurate. Now that transition period will count as part of running, so shots won’t be accurate until you’ve fully stopped moving. This may sound like a very small change, but it should have some pretty big implications to how firefights play out in-game.

What The Golf? arrives for Nintendo Switch this May with new local multiplayer mode

What the Golf?, the wacky golf game that launched on the Apple Arcade platform in 2019, arrives for Nintendo Switch on May 21. Once only available with a subscription on iOS devices, this new and expanded version of the game goes for $19.99. Pre-orders are available now and come at a 25% discount.

Originally funded through the Fig investment platform, What The Golf? is a surreal, physics-based puzzle game that revels in absurdity. Early on it asks players to golf in the traditional manner by putting a little white ball into a cup. Things quickly diverge from there, with the body of the golfer ragdolling down the fairway. Some levels also poke fun at classic video games, such as Super Mario Bros. and Portal.

Ex-Respawn devs establish new studio: Gravity Well

In February, Jon Shiring and Drew McCoy — two long-time developers at Respawn Entertainment — separately left to pursue unknown projects. On Monday, the duo announced the formation of a new AAA studio: Gravity Well.

The Gravity Well website describes the new studio as AAA, but focused on maintaining a small team — between 80-85 people, to keep the creative juices flowing. According to Shiring, the goal is to explore “bold new ideas exclusively for next-gen hardware and PCs.”
