Animal Crossing tool helps predict your weather, shooting stars

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans have a potent new tool that can help them track the weather, thanks to a popular figure in the community.

MeteoNook, which is currently in alpha, can be used to predict rainfall and meteor showers alike. Ninji, the app’s creator, is well known in the New Horizons community for data mining and sharing information. The extraordinary data miner has uncovered secrets like the return of Redd and his art sales, when villagers move out, and when special characters come to visit the island.

PUBG’s latest patch adds C4 and makes vehicles a little safer

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has a brand new weapon, and it’s sure to cause a bang. The game’s latest patch adds C4 to the game, but also makes vehicles a little safer, along with a few improvements to the new version of Vikendi.

PUBG’s new C4 is a throwable weapon that explodes after 16 seconds. Unlike C4 in other games, PUBG’s can’t be activated early, so you’re making a rather large bet every time you throw it. C4 even lets players get a little tricky since it can stick to almost any surface — including vehicles — so you can set 16-second traps that other players may not expect.

Fortnite’s new battle pass includes Auqaman and customizable umbrellas

Fortnite’s newest season is here, and that means a whole slew of new skins to unlock through the battle pass. This season’s pass has a distinctly nautical theme, which makes sense now that the entire map is flooded, but there’s more than just ocean accessories to unlock this time around.

The top-tier skins are all variations on old classics, though. One of them is a new female knight skin with dark armor and red accents that echos Fortnite’s older knight skins from the early seasons. Meanwhile, the second skin is a fox-masked character with dark clothes and lightning crackling around him, which calls back to season 5’s Drifter skin.

More Pokémon news coming next week, apparently

On Wednesday, The Pokémon Company dropped a whole bunch of things on us: New Pokémon Snap, Mega evolution in Pokémon Go, and a few other cute games and apps. Oh, and it’s also the release date for Pokémon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, Isle of Armor. But apparently, that’s not all The Pokémon Company has to share in June. More news is coming on June 24, the developer said.

“We know that’s a lot to take in, Trainers, but there’s still more to come!” the company tweeted from the official Pokémon account. “Keep your eyes out for more Pokémon news coming on June 24.”

Fortnite’s newest season flooded the island and added shark taxis

Despite months of delays, Fortnite Chapter 2 season 3 has finally arrived. After Monday’s event turned Fortnite’s storm to water, it was clear that this season would be nautically themed, and the season didn’t disappoint. The entire Fortnite island is now flooded with water, dramatically changing the landscape.

As with most season changes, season 3 has shaken up the Fortnite map. Instead of the small river system that ran through the Chapter 2 map in its first two seasons, it now looks more like a series of islands with a large sea dividing them.

A new Pokémon Snap game headed to Switch, finally

A new Pokémon Snap game, called New Pokémon Snap, is coming to the Nintendo Switch, The Pokémon Company announced Wednesday. Finally!

The Pokémon Company announced New Pokémon Snap during its Pokémon Presents broadcast on Tuesday morning. According to the company, New Pokémon Snap will be based on Pokémon Snap, originally released on Nintendo 64 in 1999. For those unfamiliar, the general idea is this: Instead of catching Pokémon, you take pictures of them. It’s a really unique game for The Pokémon Company, radically changing what players thought of as a “Pokémon game.”

Grounded caters to those with arachnophobia in a very unusual way

Obsidian Entertainment launched a 30-minute demo for Grounded on Tuesday. The game shrinks players down until they’re smaller than a pebble, bringing them face-to-face with all manner of beasts ... including spiders. To make the game palatable for those who suffer from arachnophobia, developers have opted for a unique solution: A slider that dials back how spider-like the game’s spiders actually are. Here’s how it works.

Booting up the game for the first time, players are immediately shown a warning about the game’s eight-legged content.
