The D&D digital toolset is finally getting an offline character sheet

D&D Beyond, the officially licensed digital toolset for the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing game, is finally getting a mobile character sheet app. Called the D&D Beyond Player Tools, the beta version of the free app is now available to download on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.

The process for getting this set up is a little complicated due to the unique nature of licensed content available through D&D Beyond. Users need to create a character in the browser-based, always-online version of D&D Beyond first. Then, once they log into the mobile app with the same account, they’ll have access to cached versions of their characters. For Dungeon Masters, they’ll have access to all the player-generated characters that are attached to their ongoing campaigns.

Valorant’s new patch makes it easier to surrender when you’re getting stomped

A new Valorant patch is here and this time around Riot seems focused on a few smaller quality-of-life tweaks. This patch brings some changes to one of Valorant’s most awkward guns, and makes surrendering an Unrated match just a little easier.

The biggest gameplay change of this patch comes to the Guardian, a gun that didn’t quite have a place in Valorant. It was too expensive to be a budget weapon, but close enough in price to a regular rifle to make the purchase difficult to justify. However, with this patch the Guardian is getting a price reduction to 2,500 Creds, making it a slightly more affordable option.

Animal Crossing fans upset that camera trick got patched out

A huge part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ success has to do with how much freedom it affords players to create whatever scenes they’d like. These creations then get shared on social media, and if they’re good enough, they’ll go viral. The best content creators want to make their shots and videos look pretty, which means getting rid of pesky menus that clutter up the screen.

The HUD, after all, is a reminder that what you’re seeing is a game — which makes suspension of disbelief a little harder. And so Animal Crossing creators have developed strategies to obscure the HUD from their scenes. When it comes to screenshots, that’s easy enough: Just press the + button while using the camera app. For videos, folks discovered that you could erase the HUD by hovering over the camera app and pressing the + button with the A button in a certain way. If you’ve watched a cinematic popular Animal Crossing video, chances are very good that the player used this very trick to make the footage.

Dark Souls 3 is a first-person shooter now, but that doesn’t make it any easier

There’s a mod making the rounds that adds modern firearms to Dark Souls 3, and it’s also compatible with another mod that makes the game playable in first person. That means Dark Souls 3 is now playable as an FPS. Turns out that doesn’t make it any easier.

The nuts-and-gum pairing of assault rifles and medieval polearms was highlighted by mod-maker ZullieTheWitch, who showed of an early clip on Twitter.

League of Legends’ newest champion, Lillia, revealed

Riot has revealed the next League of Legends champion, a forest fawn named Lillia.

The new champion’s kit seems focused on nature, with abilities that use all the powers of flowers and fauna. But that doesn’t mean she won’t be doing damage. Each of her abilities seems offensively focused and Riot mentions her playing mostly in the jungle.

Hyper Scape’s latest patch nerfs the all-powerful Hexfire mini-gun

Players have only had their hands on Hyper Scape for a few days, but they’re already gravitating toward a few powerful weapons. To help counteract that, Ubisoft released a patch on Monday night to help balance some of the game’s guns and abilities.

The patch’s biggest change is a nerf to the Hexfire. The Hexfire is a mini-gun that is far and away the most popular gun in Hyper Scape. It has a high rate of fire and does pretty good damage for each bullet that you hit, making it one of the game’s most reliable guns.

Halo 3 coming to PC on July 14

The last installment of the original Halo trilogy will arrive on PC on July 14. Halo 3 will be part of The Master Chief Collection, available to purchase via Steam and the Microsoft Store. It’ll also be available for free through the Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription service. The other Halo games currently available to play on PC are Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo: Reach (which will be joined by Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 down the road, promises 343 Industries). All of these games require the purchase of The Master Chief Collection on PC and can’t be purchased individually.

The first-person shooter originally came out in 2007, with much critical acclaim for its multiplayer and replayability. Halo 3 quickly became the best-selling game of that year.

Sega’s new mini cabinet is reviving 36 retro games

Sega unveiled its latest mini retro console, the Astro City Mini.

Unlike Sega’s previous retro consoles, like the Sega Genesis Mini, this one is designed after an arcade cabinet, similar to SNK’s Neo Geo Mini, which came out in 2018. First spotted by Sega Driven, the Astro City Mini will boast a more intricate button setup — six face buttons, plus Start and Select — as well as functioning microswitches, and a headphone jack. The original Astro City cabinet debuted in 1993 and is one of the company’s most popular arcade devices. The Astro City Mini will come with 36 games. The following titles have been confirmed by Game Watch:
