Call of Duty: Warzone patch will finally make the game smaller on PC

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare might be one of the biggest games to ever grace PCs. At the moment, my install is taking up 222 GB of storage space. My coworker’s install is 244 GBs. But thankfully, Infinity Ward has heard the cries of space-limited players every where and the game’s latest patch will let them reduce the install size ... sort of.

Tonight's update will begin rolling out at 11PM PDT!

This update also includes mode specific uninstall options for PC MW owners. Instructions on how to do this will be included in the patch notes coming later this evening, so stay tuned!

Here’s a dude playing Doom Eternal on his fridge

You can’t stream Doom Eternal to an iPhone, because of Apple’s tight-assed rules about everything. But you can do it on the door of a fridge, thanks to Xbox Game Pass.

Instagrammer Richard Mallard delivered this tech demo on Monday. He appears to be playing on a Samsung Family Hub Smart Refrigerator, which has been around for about four years. It’s basically a fridge with a big tablet in the door, but if I told you someone was running Doom Eternal on that it wouldn’t be so interesting, would it.

Rock Band 4 and instrument controllers playable on PS5, Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are backward-compatible with pretty much the entire Xbox One and PlayStation 4 libraries, respectively — and rhythm game fans will be delighted to hear that Rock Band 4 is included in the list on both next-generation consoles, developer Harmonix announced Tuesday.

Rock Band 4 and all DLC will work on the next generation consoles day 1,” said Harmonix. “We believe previously supported instruments should work as expected.”

Overwatch’s Halloween Terror event returns for 2020 with spooky new skins

Overwatch’s annual frightfest, the three-week Halloween Terror event, returns to the game on Tuesday, Oct. 13. This year’s edition of Halloween Terror will see the return of the Junkenstein’s Revenge co-op mode — freshly remixed for 2020 — and a new batch of spooky skins.

Blizzard has whipped up five new Legendary skins for Halloween Terror 2020: Karasu-Tengu Genji, Dai-Tengu Hanzo, Werewolf Winston, Flying Dutchman Sigma, and Shin-Ryeong D.Va. Players can also unlock three new Epic skins (Fantasma Sombra, Stone Brigitte, and Ragdoll Echo) by winning nine games each week. The addition of those eight new skins means that everyone on the Overwatch roster finally has a Halloween costume to wear.

All add-ons and save files from the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game, which launched last October, carry over to the newer console (in the same family), too. The next-gen versions of Borderlands 3 support 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second.

Valorant’s Act 3 patch adds the new Icebox map

Valorant Act 3 has arrived and it’s bringing a whole new map with it to celebrate. But while Icebox is the standout addition of Act 3’s first patch, there are a few Deathmatch changes in this patch as well.

Icebox is a snow-covered map with two bomb sites and ziplines connecting certain areas. It features multiple angles of attack and some of the most complex areas in any of Valorant’s maps so far. Icebox is technically coming out a little bit early in this patch, which means that it’s going to be in beta for now. If everything goes according to plan, Riot will add the map to Competitive queue games on Oct. 27.

Pokémon Charizard card sells for $183,000 at auction, goes to rapper Logic

On Friday, a rare Charizard went up for auction. Called the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s “crown jewel” by Iconic Auctions, the starting bid was set at $40,000. When the smoke cleared, the gem-mint first-edition went for $183,812. The buyer? None other than the rapper named Logic.

The Pokémon TCG launched in the U.S. in 1999 and was initially published by Wizards of the Coast (Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons). Since 2003 it’s been published by The Pokémon Company. According to speculators at Cardhops, this is the highest amount ever paid for this particular card.
