Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is free on the Epic Games Store

The Chinese Room’s Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is free this week on the Epic Games Store, alongside developer noio’s Kingdom New Lands. Both games are free until Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. EDT, when Costume Quest 2 and Layers of Fear 2 will take their place.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is particularly timely, as a game that’s perfect to play around Halloween. The first-person horror game was originally released in 2013 on Windows PC, but it later came to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s often described as an “indirect sequel” to the original Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which was published and developed by Frictional Games for release in 2010. Like The Dark Descent before it, A Machine for Pigs is a pretty disturbing game.

K-pop girl group Twice joins the League of Legends K/DA roster

K-pop girl group sensation Twice will be featured on League of Legends’ fictional pop group K/DA’s upcoming album.

Following K/DA’s success in 2018, Riot Games put out a pre-release single, “The Baddest” in September. Soyeon and Miyeon of K-pop girl group (G)I-dle returned to their roles as Akali and Ahri, but the song featured two new singers as well: Bea Miller and Wolftyla. Madison Beer and Jaira Burns were both featured in K/DA’s first single, “Pop/Stars,” and are making a return to the group.

Blizzard ends new content development on StarCraft 2

Blizzard Entertainment is ending new content development on StarCraft 2, the sci-fi real-time strategy game that first launched in 2010 with StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. The StarCraft team will instead focus on “season rolls and necessary balance fixes,” said Blizzard executive producer and vice president Rob Bridenbecker, as well as “what’s next” for the StarCraft franchise.

“We’re going to continue supporting StarCraft II in the same manner as we have with our previous longstanding games, such as Brood War, focusing primarily on what our core and competitive communities care about most,” Bridenbecker said in a post on the Blizzard website. “What this means is that we’re not going to be producing additional for-purchase content, such as Commanders and War Chests, but we will continue doing season rolls and necessary balance fixes moving forward.”

Warframe’s infested moon is now twice as scary for Halloween

It’s Halloween, but Warframe’s most recent content hub is already pretty scary. How can things on the infested moon of Mars, where the entire planet is now a writhing, living morass of flesh and decay, get scarier? The cast of characters are already damned to a half-existence inside giant fleshbulbs. Don’t worry, though, because they’ve found a way to celebrate the season in the new Nights of Naberus update.

Naberus is the Warframe version of Halloween, and the character Daughter will be dressing up in a seasonal costume to hand out goodies for players in exchange for Mother Tokens.

Digimon Survive delayed to 2021

Digimon Survive, a tactical RPG that takes place in the Digimon universe, is now delayed until 2021. The announcement was made on Twitter on Thursday, with a statement written by producer Habu Kazumasa.

Joe Biden sets up his own Animal Crossing island for the presidential campaign

The American election for President is well underway, and Democratic nominee Joe Biden has an unusual tactic: He’ll be premiering an Animal Crossing: New Horizons save file, called the Biden Island, on Friday for the Kinda Funny Games Twitch channel.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a hit since its release in March 2020, especially since it coincided with lockdown measures to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. Selena Gomez held a concert in New Horizons, celebrities appeared on the Animal Crossing talk show circuit, and the game became a chill daily routine that anchored millions of players from around the world.

Cyberpunk 2077 will also star Keanu Reeves’ motorcycle

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red revealed new details on Thursday about how vehicles will work in the game including how players will obtain cars, and how they will summon them when needed. The studio also revealed a partnership with Porsche, and with Johnny Silverhand actor Keanu Reeves’ own custom motorcycle company.

Cyberpunk 2077 will include lots of vehicles, such as motorcycles, off-road vehicles, armored cars, and high-performance supercars. Developers showed players driving in both first- and third-person perspectives. Cars can be stolen, they said, or purchased outright. Players will also be able to summon vehicles from their collection with the press of a button — much like how they were able to summon Geralt’s horse, Roach, in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales switches from Jordans to Adidas

What is essential to a character’s design? The first things that will come to mind are bigger, more obvious choices, but small things can make or break the feel of a character, too.

In the case of Miles Morales, the Brooklyn-based web-slinger practically became synonymous with Air Jordans following the release of the blockbuster, Oscar-winning animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. When Miles first gets his powers in the film, he doesn’t have a suit yet. He runs to the top of a building, intent on testing the limits of his new abilities. But when he looks down, he loses his nerve. We don’t see Miles’ face. We just see his Jordans, messy and untied.
