Breath of the Wild, modded so every single enemy is a Golden Lynel

Lynels are the toughest challenge The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has to offer, Ganon notwithstanding. Golden Lynels, which are exclusive to Breath of the Wild’s Master Mode, are even worse.

In Master Mode, enemies are stronger, they regain health, and can even one-hit kill Link. What makes Golden Lynels manageable, however, is that there are only a limited number of them in the base game. Not so in streamer PointCrow’s recent Twitch broadcast, the highlights of which have been uploaded to YouTube. The intrepid BotW expert, who we’ve covered before, tweaked the game so that every single enemy becomes the tough-as-nails Golden Lynel.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Halloween event is full of murder Muppets

Ubisoft will shake things up with its new Rainbow Six Siege Halloween event, Sugar Fright, which runs Oct. 27 through Nov. 10.

In Sugar Fright, players will enter into a colorful new map and select one of 10 Operators-turned-puppets. The teams battle against each other to see who can collect 50 candy from the bodies of their fallen enemies — similar to Kill Confirmed modes in Call of Duty. But for the first time in Rainbow Six Siege history, players can respawn after they die.

Baby Yoda is coming to Star Wars: Squadrons

Electronic Arts and Motive Studios’ Star Wars: Squadrons is getting a dose of The Mandalorian-inspired content ahead of the Disney Plus show’s second season. That includes a miniature Baby Yoda — officially/drably known as The Child — that can sit on your starpilot’s dashboard, simulating the experience of having a tiny creature of unknown origin bothering you during space travel.

The Baby Yoda dashboard flair is just one piece of The Mandalorian-themed DLC, which will be free, coming to Star Wars: Squadrons on Oct. 28. Players can also decorate their New Republic and Imperial starship cabins with an IG assassin droid, a Razor Crest ship, and more. Each faction will receive one hologram, one decal, one dashboard flair, and one hanging flair.

The closest we’ll get to a new Silent Hill right now is World of Tanks

The closest we’ll get to a new Silent Hill right now is World of Tanks

Wargaming’s free-to-play combat MMO, World of Tanks, is leaning hard into Halloween this year by collaborating with two of the original creators of the Silent Hill series: artist and monster designer Masahiro Ito and musician Akira Yamaoka. While we sit on our hands waiting for that long-rumored Silent Hill reboot, or for Konami to do something (anything!) with the franchise, World of Tanks is our current best option for otherworldly horror vibes.

World of Tanks’ Halloween event includes a PvE cooperative mode in which players will battle “armored monster tanks of a mysterious origin” as a team of five. In the mysterious town of Mirny-13, players will need to battle waves of enemy forces, collect a resource called Mirium, and deliver it to the structure known as Magnus. Surviving players will then be transported to a parallel dimension, where an increasingly thick fog will envelop the town.

Apex Legends is getting a new map and a new Legend for season 7

Apex Legends season 7 is called Ascension, and Respawn Entertainment has finally revealed the first real details on it. The game’s upcoming season will be the biggest of the year, with a new map, a new Legend, and even a vehicle.

The largest change that Ascension will bring is the addition of a new map called Olympus. According to the season’s teaser website, Olympus is a giant city in the clouds, but its height also makes it precarious to navigate, since it’s a long fall if you make the wrong jump. While that’s the only tease we have of the map so far, Respawn says that it will have more to reveal as we get closer to the season’s launch.

Horror game Stories Untold hits PS4, Xbox One on Oct. 27

Stories Untold is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Tuesday, according to publisher Devolver Digital. The horror anthology will be available on both consoles for the first time, which should allow new players to give the game a spin. It’s a few hours long, but absolutely worth the time, especially if someone needs some last-minute Halloween plans.

Stories Untold takes the player through short stories in interesting locales, like playing a text-based adventure game in the attic of an old house, or holding down a research station in Antarctica. It feels very inspired by old episodic horror shows like The Twilight Zone, and all comes together in the end in a satisfying bundle.

The multiplayer game will get a new trailer next week, where the publisher will showcase more about Destruction AllStars; we haven’t seen much of anything since the initial trailer was revealed earlier this year.

Teens are using Mario Kart music to finish last-minute homework

When people think about tunes meant to help you study and focus, the first thing that might come to mind are the relaxing tones of lo-fi beats. But when the clock is ticking and you’ve got an essay due in the morning that you haven’t even started, “chill” may be the last thing you want.

This might explain why, in late October, a TikTok of a woman hunched over a computer as the fast-paced tunes of Mario Kart boom overhead has gone viral, with well over a million likes on the video platform. “My stress levels went [up] but so did my word count,” the caption reads.

Overwatch pro player Geguri leaves the Shanghai Dragons

The Overwatch League is currently in its off-season, which means that professional teams are shuffling up their rosters. Among these releases and re-signings comes the announcement that Se-yeon “Geguri” Kim is leaving the Shanghai Dragons.

Kim is a famous tank player, best known for being the first female pro in the Overwatch League. When she was 17, she was accused of aimbotting due to her stellar performance on the hero Zarya. Geguri gave a live performance of her skills, and was cleared by Blizzard of any charges. She was signed by the Shanghai Dragons in 2018 after playing in the South Korean APEX scene.
