Fortnite on PS5 and Xbox Series X will get big improvements

Epic announced that Fortnite would be heading to next-gen consoles back in May, but now the developer has finally released the details on the upgraded versions of the game. On Monday, Epic Games announced that the next-gen-upgraded version of Fortnite will launch alongside both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, which means you’ll be able to play on each console’s launch day.

According to Epic, Fortnite’s next-gen versions are going to come with some pretty big upgrades because the team chose not to just port over upgraded versions of the last-gen game. Instead, they created new native builds for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.

League of Legends turn-based RPG Ruined King comes to console and PC in 2021

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is coming to PC and consoles in early 2021. The turn-based, single-player role-playing game will mark the debut of the League of Legends franchise on consoles.

A trailer that played during the 2020 League of Legends World Championship Finals showed off the game’s featured characters: Braum, Illaoi, Miss Fortune, Ahri, Pyke, and Yasuo. Though these characters come from different areas and have little to do with each other, it looks like they’ll group up to defeat a new enemy. Judging by the title, we can probably assume that the heroes will have to take on the Ruined King, who isn’t playable in League of Legends, but has an item named after him.

Netflix’s new animated series has major Mandalorian vibes

Netflix is set to debut another CG animated series, and it looks like a family-friendly take on The Mandalorian. This show is My Dad the Bounty Hunter, and it’s backed by a ton of Black talent, including Everett Downing of Hair Love, Russell Hornsby, and Yvonne Orji. Patrick Harpin, of the Hotel Transylvania series, is also involved with the project.

The show kicks off when the galaxy’s toughest bounty hunter takes off of Earth to go about hunting down baddies and surviving sci-fi laser fights. Unfortunately for him, his two kids have tagged along, and now the three of them have to get out of trouble — both in the wild, cutthroat world of bounty hunting, and with the family’s mom.

Destiny 2’s Sparrows getting instant summoning in Beyond Light

On Thursday, Bungie revealed a good bit of news around Destiny 2 ahead of the game’s Beyond Light expansion, out Nov. 10. Between its weekly blog post and a Twitch stream, the studio touched on progression and transmog, as well as the best Sparrow announcement in years.

A few weeks ago, Bungie revealed plans to dramatically change how Ghosts work in Destiny 2. But the studio didn’t mention the Ghost’s currently most popular mod: Speed Demon. Speed Demon allows players to instantly mount their in-game motorcycle — the Sparrow — without having to hold the button down for a few seconds. It’s often viewed as a “must-have perk” on all Ghosts. On Thursday, Bungie revealed that all Sparrows will summon instantly, completely removing the need for Speed Demon.

How Watch Dogs: Legion solves the character-creation conundrum

How Watch Dogs: Legion solves the character-creation conundrum

When I start a new game, especially if it has any kind of role-playing features, I spend an embarrassing amount of time dithering over my avatar, even if their features, clothing, origins, etc. can be changed at any time later. I do this in shooters like The Division 2 and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint as much as I do role-playing games like Fallout 76. Hell, who knows how long I spent on Star Wars: Squadrons, a freaking space-combat game, with only four facial presets, just trying to pick the Star Warsiest name I could think of.

Is anyone else in this silly boat with me?

Into the Spider-Verse suit makes Spider-Man: Miles Morales feel like the movie

Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed its second pre-order bonus for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales — early access to Miles’ spidey suit from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In an 11-minute gameplay video, Sony and developer Insomniac Games showed off the suit and its stylish animation style that makes the game feel just like the movie.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse production designer Justin K. Thompson said the Spider-Verse team advised Insomniac Games on the “unique design elements that make the film so distinct.” The effect, which appears to have Miles Morales operating on a slower frame rate, looks stunning in game.
