Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order mod adds a perfect Mandalorian

With Star Wars 1313 canceled, the chances of us getting a Star Wars game about bounty hunters in the near future is looking pretty grim. Thankfully, a helpful modder has arrived to give us the next-best thing: Din Djarin in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

NexusMod user AlexPo21 added the lead character from The Mandalorian to the game, complete with his full costume from the show’s second season. The Din Djarin character model comes with custom cosmetic options, including the option to wear his cape and jetpack. According to AlexPo21, the model works best when combined with the Stormtrooper voice pack mod for the game — which was originally created by the user KillerCarth.

Nintendo shutting down Super Mario Maker level uploads in 2021

Nintendo is ending support for some online features in Super Mario Maker, the original Wii U game, next year. Players will no longer be able to upload courses in Super Mario Maker as of March 31, 2021, Nintendo said in a support notice on its website.

Super Mario Maker will be removed from the Nintendo eShop on Jan. 12, 2021, in accordance with the change. Nintendo said it will still be possible to play courses that were uploaded before the course upload feature is discontinued, and that owners will be able to redownload the game after its removal from the eShop.

PlayStation Plus offers Just Cause 4 and more in December

PlayStation Plus subscribers will get access to three games in December as part of their subscription: Just Cause 4, Rocket Arena, and Worms Rumble. All three games will be available to download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 from Dec. 1 through Jan. 4, 2021.

Square Enix and Avalanche Studios’ Just Cause 4 was released for PlayStation 4 in 2018. In our review of the action game, we called Rico Rodriguez’s open-world adventure a retread of old ideas, but argued that “doing the Just Cause thing of mixing up modes of destruction is still fun.”

Milla Jovovich is coming to Monster Hunter: World

Capcom is bringing Resident Evil film star Milla Jovovich — and her monster-hunting character Artemis from the upcoming Monster Hunter movie — to Monster Hunter: World. Jovovich’s character will make a guest appearance in a two-part event quest, where she’ll be voiced by the actor.

Monster Hunter: World players will battle Black Diablos, a monster prominently featured in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter movie, and Greater Rathalos as part of the event quests, which will only be available to those who have achieved Master Rank. Players can earn special gear, layered armor, new titles, a new background, and Guild Card poses for completing the event.

Sony promises more PS5s before the new year, following ‘unprecedented’ demand

Last week, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan told Russian press that “everything” — all of its PlayStation 5 consoles — had been sold. However, Sony announced on Wednesday that it’ll refresh its console inventory in the next couple months, after seeing “unprecedented” demand for the console.

“We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever,” Sony tweeted from its PlayStation Twitter account. “Demand for the PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year — please stay in touch with your local retailers.”

Korean baseball champs celebrate with HUGE sword from Lineage

Your Korean Baseball Organization champs are the NC Dinos — so named because Guild Wars publisher NCSoft established and owns the team. Today the Dinos celebrated their 4-2 Korean Series triumph over the Doosan Bears as only their team could — with an enormous prop sword from NCSoft’s Lineage MMO franchise.

According to Sung Min Kim, an American sports writer formerly of The Athletic and currently in the front office of the KBO’s Lotte Giants, that there is the Execution Sword (집행검). It’s basically the game’s most powerful item.

No Man’s Sky players have built entire rave planets

No Man’s Sky players have built entire rave planets

In late 2019, No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games added a full-blown synthesizer to the ever-expanding space game, allowing fans to create their own melodies. And in 2020, explorers who are a part of the fan-run Galactic Hub group have come together to build in-game colonies where the dance party never stops, courtesy of that musical update.

Internally, fans refer to these colonies as the “Dual Rave Planets,” because they are meant to complement one another, color-wise. Both are bioluminescent worlds that exist on the same planetary system, with one taking on more of a red hue, and the other more tinted toward blue. Hub founder Galactic Geographic tells Polygon that the two planets are some of the “more complex” creations in the collective, because participants are required to use strobes, electric displays, and the synthesizer to make music. Unlike most settlements, the dual rave planets require folks to master a new skill.

Flight Simulator’s new update is the prettiest (and safest) way to travel across America

Finally, it’s America’s time to shine. Microsoft and developer Asobo Studio announced Tuesday that Microsoft Flight Simulator’s second world update is here and focuses on the United States, offering new visual improvements to locations across the country.

Those improvements include four new handcrafted airports: Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth; Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in Washington state; and New York Stewart in the Hudson Valley, north of Manhattan. Microsoft Flight Simulator’s second world update also polishes up 48 other U.S. airports and includes “50 new high-fidelity points of interest across the country,” Microsoft said in a news release. Those points of interest include the Statue of Liberty, Kennedy Space Center, the Hoover Dam, Monument Valley, Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, and the Grand Canyon.

Shipping consoles isn’t the problem — there just aren’t enough of them

Shipping consoles isn’t the problem — there just aren’t enough of them

There are not enough PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X units to go around. Consoles — and console bundles worth around $800 — go up on store websites sporadically, but then those websites, like Walmart and Target, crash instantly. A lucky few will get a console into their carts, and an even smaller number will be able to actually check out. And if you do get an order placed, there’s always the chance that your retailer of choice cancels it.

Whether it’s out-clicking bots or actual, eager customers, it’s been a thing to get a console this month. And as the holiday season begins, it may get even harder. Demand is high, and it’s going to stay high.

Rainbow Six Siege hits PS5, Xbox Series X next week

Rainbow Six Siege will offer modes prioritizing performance or resolution, plus a host of visual upgrades, when its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions launch on Dec. 1, Ubisoft announced Tuesday.

Siege will get a performance mode, which targets a frame rate of 120 frames per second with dynamic 4K resolution, and a resolution mode, which will opt for 60 fps action at a locked 4K resolution. That will apply to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. On the Xbox Series S, said Ubisoft, the performance mode will target 120 frames per second at 1080p; resolution mode will shoot for 60 fps at 1728p.
