Batman: Arkham Knight gets two more costumes — 5 years after launch

So ... Rocksteady Studios is still dropping Batman: Arkham Knight skins like it’s 2015 or something. Seriously! A free update today delivers the “Anime Batman Skin” and the “Zur-En-Arrh” costume. (Gesundheit!)

Both of these costumes have been in the game, but they were made available to players who logged into Arkham Knight’s official forums with a linked WB Games ID. Now they’re out and about to the general population.

Red Dead Online’s latest update may be the last straw for frustrated fans

A new Red Dead Online update arrived on Dec. 1, and fans were excited. Players have had long-standing concerns about the pace of updates, and whether those updates felt impactful, and they were hoping that adding a Bounty Hunter class could help spice up their cowboy experience. But now that they’ve had the chance to play it, many Red Dead Online fans are furious about the latest patch.

There are two main additions: the Prestigious Bounty Hunter License, and the Outlaw Pass. The license unlocks 10 new levels of the class, and gives access to new cosmetics, like a new coat of paint for a bounty wagon, and some higher-paying bounties. However, it also requires 15 gold bars (the game’s real-money currency) to unlock this content.

Fortnite might get Master Chief, plus other Halo goodies

Fortnite is showing no signs of slowing down this year. After a record-breaking Marvel event, and a recent tease for a God of War crossover, leakers are reporting that the bubblegum battle royale game might also soon see a Halo collaboration as well.

Right now, data miners and leakers are sharing small, somewhat blurry images apparently hailing from web forum 4chan that appear to show the Master Chief in the skin select menu for Fortnite. Additionally, there are also images that show a tiny Warthog and a Pelican, both of which are vehicles that you can use in Halo.

Microsoft’s holiday ad stars a dog that gets to play Halo Infinite before the rest of us

Microsoft’s holiday ad takes a worrisome turn this year, as a family of distracted pet owners focuses on various Microsoft products instead of its dog. Aw, poor Rufus. But Rufus makes the best of the situation, dreaming of his own adventures with his furry friends.

Rufus the dog starts his journey through the house by visiting a teenage boy playing Halo Infinite — originally slated for the Xbox Series X’s launch and then delayed into 2021. After receiving zero pets from him, Rufus walks away to find a more appreciative human. He then finds his human mom using Microsoft Teams, and receives his single and only pet for the entire ad. He later finds his other two humans playing Minecraft and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Sea of Thieves is getting seasons and a battle pass in 2021

Rare has posted its final update of the year for Sea of Thieves, announcing that the pirate sandbox game will look very different in 2021. In January, players will log in to see a seasonal progression system, with each season lasting three months.

This will be a big change from the current model, which brings an update to the game once per month. The seasonal model will feature additions like new enemies or world events, as well as the usual gameplay activities of voyages, treasure hunts, and rocking the hurdy-gurdy aboard a boat.

Everything we know about Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red’s long-awaited open-world role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, set in the near-future dystopian Night City and featuring Keanu Reeves, was first announced to be in development in 2012. Eight years later, the game will finally be released.

The game is based on the Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing series authored by Mike Pondsmith, who also served as a consultant on Cyberpunk 2077. It’s been the object of great anticipation from fans, particularly those who loved CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a 2015 fantasy role-playing game that received widespread critical acclaim. But as the hype has mounted for Cyberpunk 2077, so too has skepticism and concern about the game and its development.

Madden NFL 21 arrives early on Xbox Series X and PS5, but with issues

Those who own Madden NFL 21 on Xbox One can begin installing its Xbox Series X version now — a day before its announced launch of Dec. 4. The PlayStation 5 version is also available, but a bug discovered in last-minute testing means that game may only be played offline until a fix is deployed.

Electronic Arts shared news of the early installation plans with Polygon under embargo late last night, then followed up early this morning to mention the PlayStation 5 issue. EA says it still expects the PS5 version to get patched for online play sometime today.
