Celebrate The Legend of Zelda's 30th anniversary in style

Analogue, the company behind the $499 aluminum NES called the Analogue Nt, is giving its 8-bit system an upgrade — both in materials and price. The company revealed today it will produce a 24-karat gold Analogue Nt and plans to sell it for $4,999.

The company says it's making the gold-plated Analogue Nt to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, which first hit Nintendo's Famicom in 1986. Analogue says its gold Analogue Nt will be limited to 10 units. It's currently accepting reservations, which require an email to the company.

Adrift, and why VR games need a 'tourism' mode

Behind the decision to add unlimited air to a game about survival

Adrift is a survival game set it space that can be played on both a standard monitor and the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, and your limited amount of oxygen is one of the most stressful aspects of the game. You have to be constantly aware of how much air you have left while making sure you know where to find the next canister. It creates a tense, mindful sort of play that emphasizes the desperate situation of the player. You can read our review to learn more about the game as well.

And now it's optional, at least partially. You can go back and play any cleared level again using a menu option marked "EVA Free," which removes the constant fight for oxygen. The means you can explore, float around and enjoy the act of being in space.

After four years, indie hit Starbound is finally heading toward full release

Two years after Early Access launch

Chucklefish Games is nearly ready to launch the full version of Starbound, its procedurally generated space adventure cult hit. The Windows PC game, which launched in Steam Early Access at the end of 2013, will soon receive its next update, "the big 1.0," according to the developer.

Version 1.0 will bring several new features, including Starbound's complete story mode. Planets will now include several biomes and dungeons, and the developer is adding several missions and quests to the game. A post on the development blog details all of the additions in full, going in-depth on changes to the crafting system, multiplayer and more.

Xenomorphs are now something to fear, thanks to 'ACM Overhaul'

Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines was such a disaster when it launched in 2013 that it spawned a false advertising lawsuit against publisher Sega. Now, more than three years later, one modder has put out a suite of gameplay balance, AI and graphical adjustments that he says "fixes" the game's Windows PC version.

"ACM Overhaul" has been "heavily balanced and play-tested," modder TemplarGFX writes. Xenomorphs are now much more terrifying foes, he says, thanks to substantial boosts to their ability (based on class) to outmaneuver the player. They also need fewer attacks to bring down a human. "Movement speed, acceleration, weight, jump power and flight speed [have been] rebalanced so [Xenomorphs] are extremely agile and move swiftly around the cluttered levels."

The Division's 'high-end backpack' glitch getting fixed with next update

No more infinite loading screens and lockouts!

Ubisoft will deploy a patch for a major glitch in Tom Clancy's The Division as part of the game's upcoming update, according to the company's support forum. Update 1.1, launching across PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on April 12, will fix an issue that left a number of players locked out of their accounts.

Players have taken to The Division's subreddit over the past few weeks to complain of account lockouts and infinite loading screens. The problem was eventually attributed to a bug that stems from crafting high-end backpacks and other gear. After crafting and equipping these items — particularly the backpack — players found them disappearing from their inventories. This bug often causes games to freeze up, ultimately forcing players out of their accounts for days at a time.

Square Enix considering making more sets

Sellers on eBay are offering up the $270 limited edition copy for far more than the asking price. Listings for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One copies of Final Fantasy 15 are going for anywhere between $500 and $900 — more than three times the retail value.

Hands-on with a peaceful journey across the plains of Madagascar

Naughty Dog's Uncharted series is defined by globe-trotting spectacle, with protagonist Nathan Drake — our semi-reluctant action hero — inevitably seeking some long-lost treasure and racing to find it before the bad guys can get their hands on it. If there's one thing you can count on in an Uncharted game, it's shit blowing up real good. But explosions lose their impact when a story is all action, all the time; even Mad Max: Fury Road hit pause a few times.
