Friday the 13th: The Game gets new map based on iconic Jason hunting ground

Friday the 13th: The Game will include a very familiar killing ground when it hits later this year: The iconic Higgins Haven property featured in the third and fourth slasher flicks, the game developers announced at PAX East tonight.

The second playable map is based on the Crystal Lake shore, barn and two level house where the third Jason movie took place and that the fourth shows briefly.

The first video, which you can see above, also shows a new kill. The second video shown off during the panel, which you can see below, gave fans a look at the game's stealth mechanic, with players hiding in spots around Crystal Like.

Here's how to get The Division's 150 free Phoenix Credits

You'll need to talk to an obscure vendor in order to retrieve them

Tom Clancy's The Division has been having a tough couple of weeks post launch thanks to a number of technical snags. To make it up to dedicated players, developers are forking over 150 Phoenix Credits, in-game currency used to purchase some of the very best loot. Here's how to get yours.

Inside the Base of Operations, below the central stairwell leading up to the Tech Wing, way in the back of the room is a portly gentlemen at a folding table. This is the Rewards Claim Vendor and, if you've not linked your Ubisoft account to the game yet you may have overlooked him.

Battleborn is coming to Rock Band 4

Somehow, somewhere

The cast of Gearbox Software's hero shooter Battleborn is going to make an appearance in Harmonix's Rock Band 4, developers from Gearbox revealed at their PAX East panel today. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford and crew unveiled the above teaser image during their presentation but were light on details, other than to tease that Battleborn's Thorn and Miko would show up in Rock Band.

Gearbox said to expect more details on this unusual merger on Sunday. Harmonix has a panel of its own that day at 3:30 p.m. ET called "Rock Band: Present, Past and Future."

Discounts are always nice

The PlayStation Store has a flash sale going on right now, with prices on a variety of games dropped by upward of 80 percent. By a variety of games, we mean it — the theme is "action-packed," with offers including diverse games like Beyond Two Souls, LittleBigPlanet 3, Manhunt and Alien: Isolation.

It's hard to complain about a sale, though. Prices on the plethora of PS3, PS4 and Vita titles are good from now through April 25 at 11 a.m. PT. We've got a few of the highlights below:

Gather your party, high-stakes team deathmatch is back

Destiny's player-versus-player Crucible mode is hosting a special, high-level Iron Banner event at the end of this month. Posted just yesterday on the Bungie blog, designer Jeremiah Pieschl says many of the changes this time around are based directly on player feedback.

The event, which begins April 26 and runs until May 3, will feature the Clash game type and pit teams of level 40-plus players against one another. Guardians will carry over their Light-enabled advantages, which affect how much damage players deal out and receive. This time around, however, the payouts for victory will be different.

id Software's CTO outlines PC graphics options

The Windows PC version of id Software's new Doom will have a lengthy list of graphical options, including an uncapped frame rate and support for 21:9 aspect ratio monitors for wider field-of-view, the developer's chief technical officer confirmed today.

On Bethesda's blog, id CTO Robert Duffy highlighted the range of advanced settings for Doom that PC gamers will be able to take advantage of. Duffy said that some of those graphical options — like the uncapped frame rate and wider FOV — weren't highlighted during the game's beta, but that id Software considers them important, just like the PC gaming community.

Why PlayStation VR may be the best platform for Eve: Valkyrie

Social features and hardware comfort make up for graphical shortcomings

Eve Valkyrie from CCP Games is a first for virtual reality. Not only is the game coming to all three of the major VR platforms — the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR — but it will support cross-platform play. No matter what system you have, you'll be able to play with, or against, your friends on any of the other headsets.

Andrew Willens, the lead game designer on Valkyrie, said that getting the game running well on the PlayStation VR wasn't a huge challenge, although he also joked that the team's technical director may want to shoot him for saying as much.
