More information will be released during Google's I/O conference

Funomena, the development team behind games like Wattam and Luna, announced yesterday that it is working on an experimental augmented reality game called Woorld that uses technology from Google's Project Tango.

In a blog post on the company's website, the developers — which includes Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi — briefly walk through how Woorld will work as a game and what players can expect. Using a handheld device, like a smartphone, players can create digital spaces using a combination of items available through the game and physical items found in the room they're playing in.

IGN acquires GameTrailers, will maintain archive of all content

Reports of GameTrailers' death have been greatly exaggerated

The GameTrailers website is gone forever, but its name and videos will live on. IGN has acquired the rights to the GameTrailers name and content library, and will keep the site's content available on YouTube, GameTrailers co-founder Brandon Jones announced today.

Defy Media, which acquired GameTrailers in mid-2014, shut down the nearly 14-year-old site this past February. The company laid off GameTrailers' entire staff, and the website and its YouTube channel stopped updating. Prior to today, the last GameTrailers video on YouTube was dated Feb. 8.

Dota 2 introduces International Dota 2 Championship Battle Pass, new ranked playlist

You may finally have a way out of that trench to go with your awesome Dota hats.

Valve has revealed this year's in-game program and companion for Dota 2 during The International 2016, the game's world championship being held this summer in Seattle. The International Battle Pass will replace The Compendium, a feature of the past three championships, while proceeds from the Battle Pass's sale will supplement the tournament's prize pool as the Compendium did in the past.

The International Battle Pass will deliver the long-requested chance for players to recalibrate their ranked matchmaking rating, alongside new public, weekly tournaments for amateur Dota 2 players. The International 2016 Battle Pass also merges the in-game quests and challenge systems that debuted earlier this year with the Compendiums that have accompanied previous International competitions.

"We're extremely disappointed by the hateful, offensive language used by some of the online viewers during the DreamHack Austin event the weekend before last," Morhaime said. "One of our company values is 'Play Nice; Play Fair;' we feel there's no place for racism, sexism, harassment, or other discriminatory behavior, in or outside of the gaming community."

Introducing Fan Verification, another step to the process

New York Comic Con will now require customers to fill out a "Fan Verification" profile prior to purchasing tickets, the organizers announced in a press release. It's an extra step that is meant to curtail ticket scalping, according to event producer ReedPOP, which puts on the annual convention.

"Our mission is to eliminate the amount of scalpers and resellers who end up with NYCC tickets and get those tickets directly into the hands of our fans," the company explained in an FAQ.

Metal Gear creator shows the full body of his new studio's icon

When Hideo Kojima revealed his next venture, the new Kojima Productions, last year, he announced the reformed studio with a black and white logo that featured an armored, skull-faced being. Today, Kojima reveals the full mascot behind that logo. He's called Ludens, and he appears to be a futuristic explorer of new worlds.

Kojima offered the first full-body look at Ludens on Twitter today, describing him as "the icon of Kojima Productions." Ludens, Kojima said, wears an "extra-vehicular activity (EVA) creative suit" — though the official artwork actually reads "extra-vehicular creative activity suit" — and is seen holding a Kojima Productions flag.
