Everything we know about Nintendo NX

It's been more than a year since Nintendo announced its next hardware was on the way ... and we still don't know very much about it.

As its reported March 2017 debut inches closer, the codenamed Nintendo NX system remains, in large part, a mystery. Polygon has collected the facts — and fictions — that we've heard since Nintendo confirmed its new game console was on its way.

We've been calling it Nintendo NX, but only because we don't have an actual name to go by. NX is the hardware's codename; like the codenames for systems like the Wii (nee Revolution) and GameCube (Dolphin) before it, it's catchy, but NX is not here to stay.

Pokémon Sun and Moon includes QR code feature

A new way to catch new Pokémon

Among the new and returning features in Pokémon Sun and Moon, the latest Nintendo 3DS games in the monster-catching franchise, is the ability to scan QR codes with the handheld's camera. The QR scanner function will give players a very different method of registering Pokémon in their Pokédexes.

The games' website details how the new feature will work: QR codes contain information about Pokémon which, when scanned, then gets added to the Pokédex. Trainers still have their work cut out for them, though — if the QR code scanned belongs to a Pokémon they haven't yet caught, they'll be provided with the monster's habitat so that they can scout it out.

NBA 2K17 marks the first time the power forward, who also played on the 2017 All-Star team in February, has been featured by himself on the cover of an NBA 2K game. Minecraft tops 100M copies sold, 40M people play every month

Minecraft continues to churn out sales following Microsoft's late 2014 purchase of the game and the studio that made it.

In 2016 alone, according to Microsoft's numbers, Minecraft has averaged more than 53,000 copies sold a day. And the total number of copies sold since the game's launch, as of yesterday evening, was 106,859,714. That would make Minecraft owners the twelfth largest country in the world, if they all decided to go live together in one happy, game-playing commune.
