Madden NFL 17 adds colorblind filter, other accessibility options

Play art and passing icons easier to see for those who have trouble

Last year, two NFL teams made the dumbest uniform decisions in the history of major sports: The Buffalo Bills wore all red and the New York Jets all green. Not only was this combination uglier than a fart in church, it was impossible for someone with typical red-green colorblindness (raises hand) to tell who was who.

Madden NFL 17 can fix that.

Inafune is already talking about plans for a Mighty No. 9 sequel

The first one, of course, hasn't yet launched

Mighty No. 9 hasn't launched yet — still 10 more days to go — and even though its community has been disappointed by repeated delays and jeered the game's launch trailer, creator Keiji Inafune is still speaking expansively about future projects under its name.

Speaking to 4Gamer (translation by Siliconera) Inafune said Comcept is "also moving forward in an anime and live action film for [MIghty No. 9]." Further, "development for a sequel [video game] is already in our minds, and we all share the feeling of 'we'll do it even if it doesn't sell'."

Mr. Robot brought on a former hacker to make sure the show was accurate

Advisor said it's up to him to make sure Reddit doesn't call them out

In order to make Mr. Robot seem as plausible and realistic as possible, showrunner Sam Esmail brought on a former white hat hacker and security analyst to ensure that everything they wanted to do could actually be done.

Kor Adana, who's officially listed as a technical advisor for the show, told Variety that his job can get pretty stressful at times as he delves into message boards and forums to make sure that everything is correct. Using message boards and forums, Adana takes ideas Esmail wants to pursue and checks to make sure that there's evidence of it being done before, or at the very least, could be done.

Kevin Smith is bringing Mallrats to television

Said he feels at home on TV

After directing two episodes of The Flash for The CW this past season, director Kevin Smith said he's caught the bug for making TV and is bringing back the characters from Mallrats in a new series.

Smith told a local Philadelphia radio station that the project was moving forward following some logistical concerns, adding that executives seemed to be more receptive to the idea of the continuation taking place on the small screen than as a movie sequel. Smith said that despite the cult status surrounding the movie, and the passionate group of fans that a sequel would appeal to, executives were worried a movie wouldn't make any money since the first one didn't when it was originally released.

The Game Awards 2016 coming Dec. 1

Geoff Keighley's video game award show is also coming to virtual reality

The Game Awards — the annual, Geoff Keighley-hosted awards show and premiere extravaganza — will air this year on Dec. 1, 2016. This year's event will be the show's third outing and will be shown live "on every gaming screen" and in VR, according to promotional materials.

Banners announcing the date of this year's Game Awards currently hang outside the Los Angeles Convention Center, where E3 will take place next week. Keighley confirmed the date on the show's official Twitter account, promising more details this summer.

E3 has at least three more shows in LA, continues to evolve

Reports of E3’s death continue to be an exaggeration … at least for now.

"I would say that E3 has the ability to continue to lead for decades to come," said Mike Gallagher, head of the Entertainment Software Association, which runs the annual show. "It will take a very vigilant approach to continue that, and we’re pleased to have that role."

Taken at a glance, Electronic Arts' decision to leave the E3 convention center show floor and bump its press conference to the weekend before the show officially starts looks like a bad sign for E3. The same is true of news that Activision won’t be on the floor this year. Nor will Disney.

You might know something, Jon Snow

Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington is joining Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare as "the face of the enemy," Activision announced today.

Kit Harington is of course best known for his role as the hair-conscious Jon Snow (and absolutely not that one time he starred in a Silent Hill movie). The game's narrative director, Taylor Kurosaki, said in a prepared statement that team is eager to see Harington play a different character than those he's known for.
