Overwatch's latest patch brings Ana to PS4 and more

We're all moms now

Overwatch players on PlayStation 4 can now play support sniper Ana Amari through a patch released today. If you've done your homework, you'll know that Ana is one of the original members of the Overwatch strike team and also Pharah's mother.

A number of hero balancing updates have also been rolled out; self-healing abilities now charge ultimate attacks. This, however, means that the cost for ultimates has been adjusted accordingly per character. Mercy's Resurrect ability, for example, will need to charge 30 percent more than before. The long-awaited D.Va update is also included. This adds an invulnerability to her own Self-Destruct and a one-second cooldown for her Defense Matrix.

FaZe Clan called out for failing to disclose sponsorship deal

Several members of FaZe Clan, a hugely popular professional gaming league known for playing shooters, have been called out for a lack of disclosure on promotional videos for gambling site CSGO Wild. YouTuber HonorTheCall compiled evidence pointing to a previous obfuscation of the group's relationship to CSGO Wild in the video above, much of which has been addressed in a statement by the sponsor, which is set to shut down operations at the end of the week.

Among those involved are Noran "FaZe Rain" Shat, according to HonorTheCall, who previously helped expose YouTubers Trevor "Tmartn" Martin and Tom "Syndicate" Cassell as having an undisclosed stake in a site they promoted. Until recently, some of Shat's videos of his CSGO Wild winnings lacked notice that they had been sponsored by the gambling website, according to HonorTheCall. This would appear to be in violation of the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines for paid endorsements.

Necropolis will see major changes in response to reviews and criticism

New content coming within the next two months

Necropolis, the new Dark Souls-inspired roguelike, will receive considerable updates after receiving criticism for some of its key game elements, according to a post on Steam by developer Harebrained Schemes.

Many reviewers, including Polygon’s own Philip Kollar, were disappointed by the glib and unhelpful item descriptions, lack of variety in environment, enemy design and combat. In an attempt to address all of these issues and more, Harebrained Schemes has promised to add new content to the game within the next few weeks at no extra cost to the player. The developer stated in their forum post:

Clementine is the protector now

Telltale’s The Walking Dead returns this fall for its third season, and the studio is designing it to work just as well if you’re new to the series as if you’ve played everything to this point, the company said during a Comic-Con International panel today.

Now known as The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series, the game picks up with our hero, Clementine, in her early teens — and missing half of her left ring finger. She is one of two playable characters, along with a new survivor named Javier. Telltale noted in a press release that "you may not be playing each character within the same frame of time."

Sea of Thieves will feature plenty of references to Rare classics like Banjo-Kazooie

Rare is trying something new, but that doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about the past

As shown off last month at E3, Sea of Thieves is quite different from anything that U.K. developer Rare has created before. That doesn’t mean the studio is completely forgetting its past, however.

In a panel today at Comic-Con, Sea of Thieves art director Ryan Stevenson revealed that the new game will pay homage to titles that earned Rare so many fans. One way this will be accomplished is through the use of unique figureheads that players can equip on their ships.

A King's Tale: Final Fantasy 15 takes the series back to the 16-bit days

A retro-style, sidescrolling spinoff coming to modern consoles

The latest addition to the Final Fantasy 15 universe is A King's Tale: Final Fantasy 15, an old-school sidescroller coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Square Enix debuted its Super Nintendo-era graphical style in the trailer above, showing that it's more than just an '80s homage.

A King's Tale gives players the chance to be a younger King Regis, star of the feature film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15 and father to the hero Noctis. The whole game is, in fact, a bedtime story that Regis relays to his son. Although A King's Tale looks retro, it includes a more modern combat system with magic attacks, companions and summons, according to its website. Players can traverse three locations as they fight off enemies, from Cactuars to even tougher foes.
