Overwatch appears to be getting some Summer Olympics-themed skins

Get ready for a decent Zarya skin

The cast of Overwatch is apparently heading to Rio to engage in some Summer Olympics-themed fun, according to a package sent out by Blizzard Entertainment. That means some new skins — including Weightlifting Zarya, Football Lucio and Track and Field Tracer — seem to be coming in time with the real-world Rio 2016 Olympics.

Twitch streamer "LacedUpLauren" said on Twitter today that she received a package from Blizzard that includes a gold(en) medal in the shape of the Overwatch logo; trio of player cards for Lucio, Tracer and Zarya; and a sticker sheet featuring the game’s roster being sporty.

After disappointing launch, heavy metal action game Slain attempts a comeback

Slain: Back From Hell “night and day” from when it launched

When Slain, an action-platformer described as a Castlevania-inspired game with a heavy metal aesthetic, launched earlier this year, it was highly anticipated based on its looks alone. Slain is a beautifully animated, 16-bit-style action game that looks great in GIF form.

Unfortunately, the game itself didn’t quite match up to the expectations of players lured in by its visual style. Now, developer Wolf Brew Games is trying to make good on Slain’s promise with an update, Slain: Back From Hell, that’s pitched as a "night and day" difference from the game that was released in March.

Armored Core board game finds success on Kickstarter, then drops Armored Core name

With 15 days left in the campaign

Board game maker Bad Crow Games launched a Kickstarter campaign last month to fund a real-time strategy tabletop game based on From Software’s Armored Core. Although the crowdfunding campaign for Armored Core RTS quickly found success, raising more than three times Bad Crow’s $75,000 goal, the developer now says it’s dropping the Armored Core name from its board game.

Bad Crow Games president Aaron Gabrielson broke the news to backers on July 31 (about halfway through the crowdfunding campaign), saying his company’s Armored Core board game will be called Mech Command RTS instead.

Pokémon Go’s latest updates bring balance — and outrage

This weekend saw big improvements and bigger controversies

The Pokémon Go community has been up in arms since the release of the game’s 1.1.0 (on iOS, or 0.31.0 on Android) update on July 30-31. Although with it came several welcome additions — customizations and battle buffs chief among them — the removal of certain features in lieu of actual bug fixes have some fans railing against Niantic, the free-to-play hit’s developer.

The biggest updates are as follows:

Jumping from one platform to another

Well-received platformer Inside could be jumping to PlayStation 4 in the coming months, according to a set of trophies that have popped up online.

Other recent games, like Dead Rising 4, have been outed thanks to the appearance of in-game trophies online. A version for Sony’s console has not yet been confirmed, however; we’ve reached out to the developer and will update with more when we receive it.
