League of Legends’ new champion fights with a sewing kit

The newest champion to join League of Legends is Gwen, a reanimated doll that seems to be given life thanks to Viego’s death-defying magic. Gwen was first revealed with a teaser video last week, and Riot released her full kit on Tuesday. She looks to be a brawler who’s tough to lock down.

Gwen’s kit should be pretty familiar to longtime League players. She’s an Ability Power bruiser who isn’t afraid to get up close and personal with her enemies. Her giant scissor weapon allows her to do extra damage based on a percentage of her health, and most of her abilities heal her, at least a little bit.

Fortnite now has dinosaurs, because why not

For its new season, Fortnite went back in time to the Primal era, and now it’s got the dinosaurs to prove it. As part of a new update to the battle royale game, Epic Games brought some new scaly lizards to the Fortnite island to hunt and be hunted.

Just like most AI additions to Fortnite, the dinosaurs aren’t particularly friendly and will attack players if threatened. That isn’t such a bad thing though, since the dinosaurs are also a great source of animal bones, the material that players use to craft and upgrade their weapons in Fortnite season 6.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch gets an explosive new trailer

In case you perhaps found The Mandalorian a little too cuddly, Star Wars: The Bad Batch is here to suplex a droid and show that it means business.

The forthcoming Disney Plus animated series and focuses on the titular Bad Batch, a squad of clone troopers introduced near the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in the gap between the Original and Prequel trilogies. Each of the Batch’s five members have a unique skill and loud personality to complement it, making them a fun Dirty Dozen-style crew to follow into the post-War, early Empire days of Star Wars universe.

Hitman 3’s first mission is free to try this week

You can now drop into Agent 47’s World of Assassination for free. Developer IO Interactive released a new version of Hitman 3 called the Free Starter Pack, which lets players check out the game’s first level, Dubai, for free. The mission will only be included in the pack from March 30 to April 5.

The Free Starter Pack normally only includes two areas: The ICA Facility and Hawke’s Bay. These are the two prologue missions from Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2. Both levels are more like tutorials than your standard Hitman sandbox level, so IO is throwing in Hitman 3’s Dubai mission as an added bonus for the rest of the week.

Why Ninja Gaiden Black won’t be part of Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection

Why Ninja Gaiden Black won’t be part of Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection

Team Ninja’s seminal action game series, Ninja Gaiden, is coming to modern consoles and PC this summer with Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection. The trilogy of games features three specific releases — Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge — and that’s a point of contention for some fans, namely those who hold Xbox release Ninja Gaiden Black in high regard.

The decision to include those particular versions of the Ninja Gaiden trilogy was partly driven by a lack of game preservation. Fumihiko Yasuda, producer on Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection, told Polygon in an email interview that earlier versions of some Ninja Gaiden games were unsalvageable due to data loss.

Valorant’s newest patch brings Agent updates for Viper and Yoru

Valorant’s latest patch is here and it brings some much-needed changes to Yoru and Viper. Both Agents were desperate for an update, and Riot’s new patch offers plenty of changes to both of them. The patch also nerfs the Bucky shotgun (finally).

The patch’s most substantial update is aimed at Viper. Riot buffed her poison to now instantly inflict 50 decay — temporary damage — as soon as an enemy comes into contact with it. On top of that, she can now pick up her Poison Cloud grenades from slightly further away, and her Toxic Screen wall now stretches further than it did before.

Lil Nas X is posting through it, Satan bless him

Lil Nas X is posting through it, Satan bless him

Lil Nas X has had a busy week responding to critics of his new music video, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” Among the haters are elected government officials, and also notorious conservatives, like that woman who often goes viral for carrying guns on college campuses. Despite the heat, watching Lil Nas X responding to naysayers has made for wonderful entertainment, as he’s mastered the fine art of shitposting.

The music that set people off is teeming with fantastical religious imagery, like hell, where Lil Nas X dutifully grinds on Satan. Overall, the extremely gay video is a visual trip and that you just sort of need to see for yourself — and with 35 million views on YouTube, many people have.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s season 2 Reloaded patch includes a 40-player map

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s midseason update is almost here. The new patch is called Season 2 Reloaded and it includes new multiplayer maps, new zombies areas, balance changes, and a mysterious addition to Warzone. The patch will go live on March 30 at 12 a.m. EST.

Perhaps the biggest addition in Black Ops Cold War’s midseason update are its new maps. The first is a Strike variant of the Miami map, called Miami Strike. Miami Strike takes place during the day, fixing some of the original map’s annoying visual issues, and changes up the landscape a little bit by adding some new cars to the main road. There’s also a new gunfight map called Mansion.

A fishing RPG with none of the mess and all of the chill

A fishing RPG with none of the mess and all of the chill

If the pandemic has been good for anything, it’s sparking completely inexplicable obsessions and hobbies that only last a few weeks before I move on to the next shiny thing. For a while, one of my obsessions was finding a good fishing game.

Now, I’ve been crabbing before with my family. I know that actual fishing is not the quiet, meditative experience that video games condense into snappy minigames. Real fishing can be boring as hell, and if you get some action, it can be gross and smelly. Plus there’s the whole killing a living creature as a hobby thing. Obviously some people just throw fish back, but dealing with messy aspects like pulling a hook out of a wriggling fish’s mouth isn’t exactly my idea of pleasant.
