Report: New Pokémon from Sun and Moon leak ahead of trailer premiere

Images show several new monsters and a first look at the games' villains

Pokémon Sun and Moon is due for a new trailer this Friday, Aug. 12, but some anonymous 4chan users have already gotten their hands on the video. Early clips have found their way to other online forums, like NeoGAF, as have pictures of several unannounced Pokémon.

Scans posted yesterday from the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine CoroCoro help corroborate the screenshots of monsters like the prickly Pyukumuku and Wishiwashi, a water-type fish Pokémon who has two separate forms. There’s even a clip pulled seemingly straight from the trailer that shows Wishiwashi’s solo and school forms in action to lend further credence to the screenshots.

No Man's Sky streamer finally finds the last species on a planet in one perfect moment

A two-hour tour ends in success after seeming defeat

A major part of No Man's Sky isn’t just making discoveries; it’s cataloguing them. The game’s journal logs every waypoint, fauna and alien species that a traveler uncovers throughout their search, and for some, finding each unique one is a matter of utmost importance.

That’s why the moment above, seen on Twitch user KingGothalion’s No Man’s Sky livestream yesterday, is so much fun to watch. Gothalion took his viewers along for the ride as he scanned each of every one of the planet’s aliens in order to fill out his journal to completion. There were 10 different kinds to uncover, it told him, and he was dedicated to finding each and every one. Doing so awards the player 250,000 credits, the game's currency, used for buying and trading more items.

Massive Pokémon fan game now up for download after nine-year development

Pokémon Uranium version 1.0 is now out for free

There are countless unofficial Pokémon games out there, from hacked ROMs to entirely original works. But version 1.0 of Pokémon Uranium, released for Windows PC earlier this week, may be among the most ambitious. The free game has been in various stages of development for more than nine years, its creators say, making the Aug. 6 launch a major milestone for the full-length, original Pokémon adventure.

Pokémon Uranium, according to its official Wiki, takes place in the Tandor region, where many classic Pokémon have become infected by nuclear radiation. The trainer — one who can be male, female or gender neutral — must stop these monsters from wreaking havoc across the land, all the while collecting gym badges and trying to become a Pokémon master, as per usual.

The 'secret' behind the Joker’s facial tattoo? Batman

David Ayer shares his head-canon

The Joker’s metrosexual-via-Hot-Topic look in Suicide Squad has been controversial since the very first picture was released, and director David Ayer has finally shared a bit of the logic behind the facial tattoos and dental work.

"This is sort of my personal thing and maybe less about a larger connection," Ayer told Empire. "But Joker killed Robin and Batman basically smashes his teeth out and locks him up in Arkham Asylum. It’s in the asylum where Joker would have done the ‘damaged’ tattoo as a message to Batman saying, 'You’ve damaged me. I was so beautiful before and now you’ve destroyed my face.' That’s where the grill comes from."

Your next chance to play may be October

The closed beta for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is being pushed from its planned September release and will launch instead on Oct. 25, CD Projekt Red announced today.

The beta was originally announced at Microsoft’s E3 press conference this past June, confirming a trademark filing discovered earlier that month. The game is a stand-alone spinoff of a popular minigame in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The company still plans to have Gwent hands-on at Gamescom next week.

Day two of the 2016 International Dota 2 Championships: Surprise upsets continue

Who’s moving on, who’s going home

The second day of The International was a rough one for Chinese and European Dota 2 teams.

Tuesday began with Chinese team EHOME facing off against Swedish squad Alliance. Alliance, the winners of 2013’s International, have performed inconsistently over the course of 2016, but came into the group stages of TI6 strongly, performing in the top half of the overall standings and taking straight sets against TI5 champions Evil Geniuses. But the Swedish team was outmatched right from the beginning against EHOME, the overall leaders from the group stage who soundly dismantled alliance in a straight 2-0 set. Alliance will now have to continue in the lower bracket today against Southeast Asian team Fnatic, the loser of which will be eliminated from the tournament.

Every Xbox 360 game that’s backward compatible with Xbox One

Which Xbox 360 games play on Xbox One?

Xbox One, unlike its biggest competitor PlayStation 4, is backward compatible with a portion of its predecessor's games. The list of Xbox 360 titles playable on Xbox One expands on a regular basis, with hundreds already working on the current-gen system. While Microsoft announces old games that are newly playable on its latest hardware as soon as they’re available, it can be hard to keep track of which of your discs or downloads actually work with Xbox One.

We’ve got a big spreadsheet of every backward compatible game below to help you out. It’s sorted by the most recent Xbox 360 game to become playable on Xbox One, and we’ll continue to update it with every addition, from the big — such as classics like Dark Souls and Red Dead Redemption to the smaller, more niche titles.

The king of the sea joins the undead
