Blizzard embraces ‘Gremlin D.Va’ with new Overwatch emote

Hana does the Dew and Doritos

"Gremlin D.Va," the Mountain Dew-swilling, nacho cheese Doritos-chomping caricature of D.Va spawned from a widely spread Tumblr meme, gets a nod in a batch of new emotes recently added to Overwatch.

While the rest of the Overwatch cast got emotes that sees them either laughing or sitting down to rest, D.Va got a new one called "Game On." In it, she fires up a holographic shooting game, then grabs a handful of (off-brand) Doritos and chugs some (not officially licensed) Dew.

Katsuhiro Harada says cultural differences ought to be respected

Tekken 7 producer and director Katsuhiro Harada has hit out at "ill-informed" criticisms of his character designs, especially those that feature scantily clad young women.

In an interview with Eurogamer, the outspoken game creator said that his critics failed to appreciate cultural differences. He said that depictions of women in swimsuits are no different to dressing up for holidays.

Plus some changes for Zenyatta and D.Va

Blizzard rolled out a new patch on Overwatch’s public test region (PTR) today that indicates some important balance changes are coming for characters like D.Va, Genji, Mei, Mercy and Zenyatta. The changes to Genji are some of the biggest, and will likely come as relief to many Overwatch players who have frequently been on the receiving end of a cyberninja manhandling.

Genji’s ultimate, Dragonblade, for example, is seeing its duration decreased from eight seconds to six. Blizzard is also making certain abilities, like his dash, double jump and Swift Strike skill less effective in the hands of players with quick reflexes.

Delicious #boneless nose art and an exclusive game mode for team #bonein

Electronic Arts and the team at Respawn Entertainment have partnered with Buffalo Wild Wings to provide a series of perks for paying customers, both eat-in and carry-out. Digital exclusives include custom Buffalo Wild Wings themed skins for titans, as well as an exclusive game mode. The promotion is being performed in partnership with Pepsi’s Mountain Dew brand beverage.

Buffalo Wild Wings, which was first opened in 1982 near the campus of Ohio State University, is known for two things. One, their selection of finely fried chicken appendages in a number of delectable sauces. Two, for the sheer number of television screens available at each of its more than 1,000 locations. We can only hope that on launch day, Titanfall 2 will be on every one of those screens nationwide.

Mass Effect remasters ‘most likely’ on the way, EA says

Could the Normandy be traveling to current consoles?

Electronic Arts hasn’t remastered any of its previous-generation games for the current consoles — yet. That could change soon, starting with the Mass Effect franchise, reports Game Informer.

Last year, EA Studios executive vice president Patrick Soderlund told Game Informer that the company had considered remastering titles like Mass Effect, but had decided to focus on new projects instead. Things have changed, though, largely because EA now sees a demand from fans for remasters.

WoW’s new expansion isn’t out yet, but Blizzard is already looking to what’s next

World of Warcraft: Legion, the popular massively multiplayer game’s sixth expansion pack, won’t be live until Aug. 30, but that hasn’t stopped Blizzard from announcing what’s next. During a stream at Gamescom, the developer revealed "Return to Karazhan" (a.k.a. Patch 7.1), the first major update for the new expansion.

According to details from the stream gathered by MMO Champion, the patch will focus on the titular Karazhan, which was a popular 10-player raid back during the game’s first expansion, The Burning Crusade. Rather than a raid, the updated version of Karazhan will be a five-man dungeon, though it will be larger than most of the other dungeons in the game. Blizzard said it will contain nine bosses.

Dr. Neo Cortex joins the game

Sony first announced that Crash Bandicoot would be joining the Skylanders team back in June at E3, but today at Gamescom, Activision confirmed that the nefarious Dr. Neo Cortex and foe Kaos would be starring in their own level.

Thumpin' Wanda Islands is the newest, Crash Bandicoot-dedicated level coming to Skylanders. In the game, Kaos learns how to wield the power of Mind Magic to create a clone of himself in order to take over the island. He soon realizes, however, that his clone is just as diabolical as he is and Kaos will have to content with fighting himself as well as others on the island.
