A half hour of gameplay from the cancelled remastering

A little over 30 minutes of gameplay allegedly captured from the cancelled HD remake of GoldenEye 007 was recently posted to the YouTube channel of Rare Thief, a site that specializes in showing footage and assets of shelved projects and prototypes from developer Rare.

Rare Thief has previously shown gameplay from titles like Twelve Tales: Conker 64, the original family-friendly version of the notoriously raunchy Conker’s Bad Fur Day.

Maybe cats — and romance — can make America great again

There are a ton of strange, animal-focused dating sims out there, from the ones that let you learn to love a pigeon to those that have you speed dating pugsCat President ~ A More Purrfect Union ~, out now on Steam, looks to be a pioneering entry in this genre, however: Not only does the game have the player, "an ordinary teen girl," woo one of a handful of kittens, but she’ll have to balance her love life with the fast-paced political landscape that’s dominated by those very same pets.

Based on its description, Cat President sounds first and foremost like a political visual novel. It’s set in an appealing alternate reality where humans were banned from politics due to widespread corruption, leading the Democats and Repawblicans — and later, the Fancy Furballs and the Sharpclaws — to take over.

Pokémon trainers have a new way to prove their team is battle-ready

Pokémon Gos version 0.35.0/1.5.0 update adds but one change to the game, and it’s a big one for players who long to get into the more strategic side of the mobile hit. The new Pokémon Appraisal tool can help them do just that, but it takes some time to learn how.

Thankfully, players are already translating Appraisal’s vagaries into more useful, concrete terms for aspiring gym owners. Pokémon Go communities on Reddit and other sites have collected the recurring phrases spoken by team leaders Blanche, Candela and Spark, parsing them for their hidden meanings about a Pokémon’s strengths and weaknesses.

Pokémon Sun and Moon lets you throw Pokémon around for cash

It's not as bad as it sounds, promise

Pokémon Sun and Moon, as with every new Pokémon entry, promises tons of new content and features not seen in previous Pokémon games. But in the new gameplay video above, one of Sun and Moon’s minor additions is introduced, and it doubles as its most startling feature thus far: a minigame that pays you to chuck a poor, unsuspecting Pokémon into the ocean.

Comics magazine V Jump uploaded the clip above, which shows a player hunting down various Pyukumuku, the new sea cucumber Pokémon, that can be found chilling on the Alola region’s otherwise peaceful beaches. He’s not just doing it to further his quest to become a Pokémon master, though; another beach dweller has given the trainer an incentive both monetary and, strangely, heartwarming.

Another way to play games when the console’s off

PlayStation Now will soon launch on Windows PC, if metatext found in a PlayStation Europe post is accurate. Twitter user Wario64 pointed to the HTML of a recent blog entry that seems to reveal that the game-streaming service is heading to computers.

In a tweet, he highlighted how an image used in an unrelated PlayStation Europe blog post bears the title "PS Now on PC Announce Post." The photo doesn't have that name on Flickr, so it's unclear whether Sony changed it after noticing the gaffe or if the text was edited in directly. We've reached out to the company to confirm.

No longer a PS4 exclusive

Maddeningly tricky puzzle game The Witness is coming to Xbox One on Sept. 13, lead designer Jonathan Blow announced. In a statement to IGN, he confirmed that a port of the former PlayStation 4 exclusive was on its way to Microsoft’s hardware.

When it hits Xbox One, The Witness will look much the same as it did on PS4 and Windows PC, where it launched this past January. There won’t be any exclusive content for Xbox One owners, Blow said.
