Some Pokémon Go accounts are being unbanned

There’s hope for you yet

Pokémon Go developer Niantic Labs is holding firm on its stance against unauthorized third-party services that work with the game, but the company said today that it will be reinstating some accounts of users who may have been inadvertently causing chaos on the game’s servers.

The accounts in question may have been using software that Niantic refers to as "add-on map apps," which are user-created tools that show you where you can find particular Pokemon around you.

Klei Entertainment’s next game is its first 3D game

The next game from Klei Entertainment, the developer behind Mark of the Ninja, Invisible, Inc. and Don’t Starve, is a nod to childhood games of the imagination. Hot Lava is a first-person platformer in which players will jump from coffee tables to couch cushions, through elementary school hallways and nightmare worlds all with one thing in common: The floor is lava.

Klei calls Hot Lava "a game of dexterity and ingenuity" filled with "treacherous obstacles" for players to leap, slide and swing across. The game’s debut trailer shows what players will have to contend with in Hot Lava (spoiler: it’s hot lava) in a variety of settings.

More Sierra games on Steam is today’s treat for nostalgic adventure fans

You might want to take the rest of the day off

A number of classic games by Sierra Entertainment, from Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father to the full Quest for Glory series, are available on Steam today. That should be great news for old-school fans of the 37-year-old studio, as well as lovers of story-based games that go heavy on the puzzle-solving as well.

Sierra Entertainment is best known to modern-day gamers as the makers of King’s Quest, which received an episodic reboot last year. The original was a point-and-click adventure title that garnered cult acclaim and spawned several sequels in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

World of Warcraft devs promise they have plenty of bad guys left

Legion is nowhere near the last threat to Azeroth

Most World of Warcraft expansions have an antagonist — a villain players can point to as the one, the main force you need to band together to take out. Sometimes it’s a single character, like The Burning Crusade’s Illidan, and sometimes it’s a more of a group, like Warlords of Draenor’s Iron Horde.

The latest expansion, Legion, launches tomorrow. This time around, the bad guys are a pretty big one: The Burning Legion. For those not familiar with Warcraft lore, this is the giant demon army that’s been behind most of Azeroth’s troubles since the start of the franchise.

One of the cutest Pokémon just got cuter

A make-your-own Eevee plush goes on sale at Build-A-Bear Workshop this Thursday, Sept. 1, the retailer announced. The Normal-type fox Pokémon will be available both online and in stores, just like Pikachu before it.

The basic $28, 14-inch Eevee doll also includes a special trading card stamped with the Build-A-Bear logo. Pokémon fans who prefer their characters in costume can also pick up several other items, including a pair of adorable outfits. Kick a touchdown with Madden's latest funny glitch

Kick a touchdown with Madden's latest funny glitch

Just like Garo Yepremian

Another year, another Madden, another hilarious Madden glitch. This YouTuber turned up a bizarre situation in which the game confuses what endzone a player is in and instantly awards a touchdown.

To be clear, this isn't some archaic, real-life rule — like, say, the fair catch kick — that Madden NFL 17 has suddenly added to the game after a sharp-eyed user suggested it on social media. No, this just plain isn't supposed to happen. YouTuber Matthew Skoglund lines up his Tennessee Titans for a long field goal attempt at the end of a franchise game, and kicks it directly into the arms of Minnesota's deep back — who somehow scores a touchdown on the play and celebrates, but for the Titans, not the Vikings.

Nintendo heads back to the galaxy with New Nintendo 3DS XL pattern

Please be as excited as Reggie

Nintendo is releasing a new look for the New Nintendo 3DS XL: a Galaxy pattern, on stores later this week. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime himself showed up to announce the design on Twitter, which you can watch above.

It’s a minute-long clip starring an ecstatic Fils-Aime as he sings the praises of the intergalactic design scheme. So excited is Fils-Aime about the hardware’s latest theme, in fact, that Nintendo decided to ship it out to retailers today. It will cost $199.99 once it hits shelves, although there’s no set date on when customers can expect to find it.
