The Stanley Parable’s designer lied to Rick and Morty’s creator — and now they’re making a game together

How a goof about Respawn Entertainment birthed Squanchtendo’s first game

Last month, Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland announced that he was partnering with Epic Games veteran Tanya Watson to launch a games studio focused on high-quality VR experiences. Today, Squanchtendo (yes, that’s their actual name) announces their first project: a game called Accounting, which Roiland is designing in collaboration with The Stanley Parable designer William Pugh.

So how did a notoriously funny Los Angeles-based writer and TV producer get tied up with a notoriously funny West Yorkshire-based game designer?

Dishonored 2 trailer focuses on Corvo’s quest for justice

Delilah’s going down, if Corvo has anything to say about it

Dishonored 2 lets you play as Emily Kaldwin, the princess from the original game. But you can also step back into the boots of Corvo Attano, the Royal Protector, who has his own story of vengeance in this new trailer.

While Emily had been the empress since being rescued by Corvo at the age of 10, she has been overthrown 15 years later by a woman styling herself as Delilah Kaldwin. In reality, this is the alternate identity of Delilah Copperspoon, who appeared in some of the downloadable content for Dishonored as the leader of the Brigmore Witches.

Series-spanning miniseries may be the Pokémon cartoon of our dreams

Although the festivities have piped down since February, Pokémon is still celebrating its 20th anniversary year in style. There’s a pair of games heading to Nintendo 3DS in just two months, but a new series of animated shorts will take fans back through the older games before launching into the next generation.

Pokémon Generations recounts the adventures of the Pokémon handheld games, recapping them for the small screen for the first time. Until Dec. 23, the franchise’s YouTube channel will play host to the 5-minute episodes, each one focused on a different Pokémon game.

All together now: Say-guh

The reveal of spring 2017’s Sonic Mania was the highlight of the hedgehog’s 25th birthday bash this summer, and it’s clear to see why: The pixelated sidescroller is a love letter to the Sonic games of old. That’s obvious right down to its collector’s edition set, now available for pre-order through Sega, which has several items meant to warp ‘90s kids 25 years back.

Steam review scores change to ward off playing the system

Steam review scores change to ward off playing the system

Whether or not your key is legit, your review of it won’t count anymore

Heavy Steam users may have noticed that the customer reviews section of every store page looks a bit different as of last night. That’s because the system has changed, as Valve announced in a post last night, and the tweaks are meant to make scores more legitimate.

To do so, Valve has introduced several filters to the reviews tab; one limits customer write-ups to just a user’s native language, while the other lets them choose between game reviews by Steam purchasers, key activations or both. The latter option, which is set to reviews by Steam store customers by default, is what Valve honed in on in its post, explaining that the update comes as a preventive measure against illegitimate reviews.

This Kingdom Hearts trailer is baffling, but it has nice music and a release date

A classic track gets remixed for the next Kingdom Hearts spin-off, arriving early next year

Despite having played and enjoyed a bunch of games in the Kingdom Hearts series, I couldn't begin to tell you what's happening in the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. That doesn't mean it isn't worth a watch, though!

The trailer was introduced during Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference this evening and features a great remix of "Simple and Clean," the J-pop song popularized in the first Kingdom Hearts way back in 2002. According to a press release from Square Enix, it also features never-before scenes from Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover, an origin movie that will be included in the compilation. Likewise, the trailer shows off a few tidbits from Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A fragmentary passage, where players will take on the role of Birth by Sleep's Aqua.

Take a high-speed rap journey from Final Fantasy 15 to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

Sony kicked off its PlayStation Japan press conference with a song from musician Tofubeats, featuring Ryo-Z and Pes from Japanese hip hop group Rip Slyme, and it was, for better or worse, one of the highlights of today's presentation. Even if you don't speak Japanese, it's probably worth a listen.

Ostensibly a promotional highlight reel for the new, slimmer PlayStation 4 model, Ryo-Z and Pes rap their way through the console's upcoming lineup, deftly switching from rhymes about chocobo racing in Final Fantasy 15 to no scope headshots in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to Kazuma Kiryu's antics in Yakuza 6. It's not a particularly quick journey either, clocking in at four minutes, 22 seconds.

Bandai Namco celebrates 15th anniversary of Gundam Vs. with new PlayStation 4 game

How do you feel about robots punching and shooting other robots?

Today at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, publisher Bandai Namco took the stage to reveal its latest Gundam title. As part of a celebration of the 15th anniversary of Gundam Vs., a  series of fighting games based off the long-running anime franchise, Bandai Namco will be working on a "new generation Gundam Vs." for the PlayStation 4.

After running through the history of the series, the trailer above shows footage from the new game. It includes a Gundam smashing through a building that then crumbles realistically, and two of the giant mobile suits clashing against each other, among other short scenes. It also looks notably better than any of the previous games, clearly utilizing the power offered by the hardware upgrade from older entries.
