Where in the world is the Pokemon Go Plus?

With half a billion downloads under its belt, it’s fair to say that Pokemon Go has a rather large player base and today, a lot of those players seem to be out hunting for something a bit more substantial than the digital pocket monsters.

The Pokemon Go Plus accessory officially releases today in North America. The problem is that it remains unclear where exactly a player is supposed to go to buy one.

Resident Evil 7’s latest VR demo changed the way the game’s camera works

Resident Evil 7’s latest VR demo changed the way the game’s camera works

It’s a welcome change, but it still made me queasy

The last time I played Resident Evil 7 biohazard in virtual reality, it made me feel nauseated almost immediately, thanks to the game’s camera design. (In the E3 version of the game, players could look around freely with both the right analog stick of a PlayStation 4 controller and by moving their head. It was disorienting and caused many attendees to feel sick.)

At Tokyo Game Show this week, I tried the VR version of Resident Evil 7 once again. This time, I played the Lantern demo that was featured at Gamescom last month. And this time, I still wound up feeling a little queasy after taking off the PlayStation VR headset. But Capcom apparently made one noticeable change to the way the game’s camera works, and it seems to help ... a bit.

First Evo Japan tournament set for January 2018

Preeminent fighting game tournament will take its time heading overseas

The first official Evo Championship Series tournament for Japan will take place January 2018, organizers announced at Tokyo Game Show.

Evo Japan, which was announced at this year's Evo in Las Vegas, is arriving a little later than some fighting game fans expected, but organizers say that's by design. The team putting together the first-ever Evo Japan say they want to give competitors ample time to plan — and perhaps save money for — the trip to Japan. Evo Japan organizers say they plan to work closely with Japanese fighting game communities on the tournament’s structure and selection of featured games.

An exclusive look at three new cards from Magic’s upcoming set, Kaladesh

An exclusive look at three new cards from Magic’s upcoming set, Kaladesh

Magic: The Gathering is getting vehicles — here's a first look at three of them

Kaladesh is a brand new set coming to Magic: The Gathering later this month, and it’s one hallmarked by a gorgeous, gilded not-quite-steampunk aesthetic, themes of invention and creation, and a striking sense of optimism. One of the coolest things about Kaladesh from a design standpoint is that none of the named mechanics featured in the set are recycled from any previous expansion. Instead, all of Kaladesh’s major mechanics are brand-new, a rarity for a modern Magic set.

The set is built around three mechanics: Fabricate, a creature ability that lets you choose between a free +1/+1 token or a free 1/1 artifact creature; Energy, a new type of counter used as a persistent, special currency that can be both created and redeemed by plenty of cards in Kaladesh; and Vehicles, a new type of artifact that needs to be ‘Crewed’ by a creature in order to come to life as an artifact creature.

Did Bungie just launch a Destiny ARG?

What’s this ‘Owl Sector’ about?

Destiny’s fourth expansion, Rise of Iron, doesn’t launch until next week. But players in the Crucible, the game’s competitive multiplayer component, have begun seeing some strange stuff that could point to an alternate reality game (ARG) surrounding the upcoming expansion.

Earlier today, Crucible players started noticing that they were receiving new character buffs during matches. On the character screen, each perk is listed with the following description: "[perk name] has been transmitted to you. Increased XP and reputation gains for the duration of Transmission." In the game, a buff manifests as a bunch of colored particles flying around a Guardian’s head.

Berserk game gets a Western launch date and a weird new name

His name is Guts, not Berserk, Koei Tecmo

Koei Tecmo revealed its adaptation of the classic Berserk franchise just before E3 2016 in June, and back then, it had the simple working title of Berserk. Today, the publisher confirmed a Feb. 21 stateside launch date in 2017 for the action title, as well as a new English name: Berserk and the Band of the Hawk.

"The Band of the Hawk" refers to the group of fighters that accompany the hero of the anime and manga series. But this battle-tested mercernary's name isn’t Berserk, as the title may imply: It’s Guts. Berserk is simply the title of the series, which began more than 27 years ago and remains ongoing.

Which Harvest Moon: Skytree Village bachelor deserves your rose?

There are three single dudes, but only one choice

Harvest Moon: Skytree Village differs from previous Harvest Moon games, in that it has a far more limited selection of bachelors and bachelorettes to choose from. When there’s not much more to do beyond dating, farming, fishing and gardening in the game, it’s important for the player to make the right choice in which person they’re going to go after. Natsume revealed the three lucky guys waiting to be wooed in Skytree Village today, and now it’s up to us to suss out who’s worth our time.

"We have made a real effort to provide interesting, unique, and varied characters to woo and marry, and we look forward to introducing them to fans!" Natsume president Hiro Maekawa said in a press release. Well, Polygon will be the judge of that.

What’s Papyrus’ favorite food?

On Sept. 15, 2015, Toby Fox released a uniquely tragicomic role-playing game called Undertale. It’s gone on to build and sustain a wide, devoted fanbase for a variety of reasons: its story, its music, its tough choices and its unforgettable characters. Although their stories ended with the game’s gripping conclusion, Fox brought them back to answer some burning fan questions today, in honor of Undertale's first anniversary.

The skeleton brothers Papyrus and Sans may be Undertale’s most popular characters, so it’s fitting that they take centerstage in the Q&A. The biggest question fans have for the cast, according to the Tumblr collection Fox posted earlier today, is specifically directed at Papyrus: What’s his favorite food?

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is somehow a perfect fit for MMA fighter Conor McGregor

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is somehow a perfect fit for MMA fighter Conor McGregor

Kit Harington gets his in-game debut, too

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has two big names in its cast of space shooters: Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington, previously announced as the leader of the game’s enemy force, and mixed martial artist Conor McGregor, who revealed his Infinite Warfare appearance yesterday. Activision released a new trailer today that shows both of them in action, however briefly, and they blend right into the massive first-person shooter franchise.

McGregor, a huge fan of Call of Duty, has starred in a video game before; he’s on the cover of EA Sports UFC 2, a game he bested "clueless gamer" Conan O’Brien at earlier this year. He only shows up for a quick look in the Infinite Warfare story trailer, but the redheaded fighter is somehow not a distraction as Captain Bradley Fillion. A video from MacLife shows McGregor prepping for the motion-captured role; watch that below to see his transformation.
