Publisher Microsoft invites aggrieved fans to get in touch

An attempt by publisher Microsoft Game Studios to ban cheats from Forza Horizon 3 has resulted in players being handed 30-year bans from the racing game. But some say they have been unfairly hit by bans.

Two Forza fans contacted Polygon to complain that they had been banned unfairly and were unable to get a response from Microsoft. Reddit threads also detail instances where players say they were wrongly banned.

A strange game about dreams and anxieties

"All I want in life is to be understood, and to better understand myself."

Dreams are perplexing, looping and unpredictable. They invite interpretation yet resist understanding.

Awkward Dimensions Redux is a game about dreams. Insofar as dreams are odd and highly personal, the game succeeds. It's a scattering of ideas that defy logic and comprehension.

Nintendo NX theorists have finally found peace

Goodbye NX, and hello Switch

It took us many, many, many months, but here we are, on the other side of the Nintendo Switch reveal. What we for a long time knew only as the codename Nintendo NX console has a new title, a fresh look and an updated list of questions fans are asking about it. Of all the fans relieved by the console’s announcement, none are more elated than the denizens of Reddit’s Nintendo NX forum — a group that, well, no longer needs to exist.

The subreddit was designed to be “the central hub for all News, Updates, Information, Rumors, Speculation, and Topics relating to Nintendo's upcoming game system codenamed ‘NX,’” according to its description. We’ve paid close attention to it in recent weeks as speculation ran rampant across the board, there more than anywhere else. Fans generated reveal date calendars — which, by the way, weren’t far off — and staked their livelihoods on the NX’s imminent reveal, day after day.

Voice actors declare strike against video game companies

SAG-AFTRA represented actors want change

After a week of negotiations between actors union SAG-AFTRA and various video game companies, the voice acting community has declared a strike against some of the biggest publishers and developers in the industry.

SAG-AFTRA — the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists — released a statement just after midnight on Friday morning declaring the strike against some companies, including EA, Activision, Disney Character Voices and Take-2 Interactive Software. According to SAG-AFTRA, after 19 months of unsuccessful negotiations, striking was the only viable option left to ensure their concerns about safer work conditions for the voice acting community was met.

Who is the new Zodiac Killer?

In Watch Dogs 2, players will attempt to take down the ctOS 2.0 surveillance system and its creator, Blume, as expert hacker Marcus Holloway. They’ll also contend with another Bay Area threat, the infamous Zodiac Killer — or what appears to be a copycat killer utilizing his methods — in a bonus mission shown in a new trailer today.

Watch Dogs 2’s Zodiac Killer mission will see players chasing down an "unwanted ghost of San Francisco’s past," Ubisoft said in a release. "A killer is staging the bodies of his victims all over Oakland like the infamous Zodiac Killer of the Sixties, and he’s taunting the police and news outlets with coded messages."

Nintendo Switch trailer shows NBA 2K17 and Skyrim, but they’re not confirmed for release

Well, that’s confusing

With today’s Nintendo Switch announcement, the company came out of the gate promising support from nearly 50 third-party developers and publishers. The reveal trailer for the hybrid console featured footage of two very different third-party games: Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and 2K Sports’ NBA 2K17.

That might lead you to believe that those games are coming to the Nintendo Switch, perhaps even as launch titles alongside the system’s debut in March 2017. NBA 2K17 was released a month ago on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, while Skyrim Special Edition, a remaster of the original 2011 game, arrives next week on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Nintendo Switch reveal video has a surprising lack of kids

No kids allowed?

We're still watching and rewatching the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer from this morning, in which we got our first look at the company's new, hybrid console. But one thing that we and others online are picking up on is that our first look at the Switch is missing what has long been a crucial demographic for Nintendo: children.

Watch the video again above to see what we mean. The only people we see playing the new console are ... well, they're still pretty young, but they look more like young folks who grew up playing the Super Nintendo or Nintendo 64. They've been around the block a time or two, that's for sure.

Will this “Hurt” them?

Nintendo’s newest home console, the Nintendo Switch, was announced today with a jauntily scored three-minute trailer.

Twitter was not content to let this lie, especially since the Nintendo Switch has such an enticing name. First, Jay Kellz made good on his threat to replace the music with Will Smith’s song “Switch:”
